Marvel Combines With Zombicide For Upcoming Kickstarter
November 25, 2021 by fcostin
Given the fast pace we are seeing Marvel approach the tabletop, whether it be with a new RPG, Miniatures range, board games or card games. But the Marvel-ous infection has taken route in the perfect existing board game.
Your favourite Marvel heroes have been caught slap-bang in the middle of some Zombicide chaos - coming to Kickstarter, the next board game in the series brings Marvel Zombies: A Zombicide Game.
Marvel Zombies: A Zombicide Game Trailer // CMON
If there was a zombie outbreak? You’d expect the heroes to get involved! Well, only if they cannot be infected too, right? There are a good amount of infected ready to take hold of the living, this includes some of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes! Including Deadpool, Captain America and The Hulk bringing Marvel Zombies into a Zombicide Arena.
Marvel Zombies: A Zombicide Game Miniatures Preview // CMON
There has not been much released by CMON regarding the upcoming release. Only that it will be heading over to Kickstarter and that there is quite the hefty expansion containing Galactus coming already too. A Zombified world eater to contend with?
Nothing on the gameplay just as yet, and who players might be taking the role of - but just lots of Marvel Zombie goodies to look forward to on the Kickstarter campaign when it does eventually go live!
How would you like to see Marvel Zombies: A Zombicide Game play out?

Color me interested!
Maybe not in the probable Galactus huge MINIATURE though…
I loved the first comic book series – a great classic.
So has anybody compiled a list yet on which gaming system has the most “rebrands”? Risk, Monopoly, Zombicide and Talisman spring to mind… oh and Pandemic. Anything else?
Pretty sure Monopoly wins that one with ease
Pandemic rebrands aren’t too bad.
They do adjust the mechanics to fit the new theme a bit, unlike Monopoly which is just a new skin.
Most of them change mechanics
– Pandemic changes mechanics.
– Some versions of Monopoly change the mechanics, some don’t. Don’t expect them to make the game good or anything.
– Risk changes mechanics sometimes.
– I don’t think that Clue changes mechanics, but I think they heavily reskin for things like Zelda Clue.
– Zombicide changes mechanics quite a lot. Like Munchkin, you can sometimes mix different versions together.
– Talisman changes mechanics
– Munchkin changes mechanics
the various zombicides aren’t *that* different, are they ?
At least I thought it was more evolution of the system as opposed to changes in mechanics.
Night of the living dead is the only one that has different features.
I thought the changes made between the OG Zombicide games, Black Plague/Green Horde and Invader were pretty substantial to be fair.
Definitely yes. Night of the Living Dead is not the only one. But we tend to miss it with modular games where you can mix versions together. I don’t know why. – New maps, new missions, new survivors with new abilities and each set features some unique types of zombies with different rules. Sometimes these can be mixed with other versions in the same setting (like adding orc hordes to Black Plague). There tend to be new map elements added for the missions as well. – There are definitely some changes that seem like “new edition updates” like shooting into… Read more »
Zombicide has a long way to catch up to Monopoly.
I don’t think I’d bother counting versions with anything but Munchkin, but I still doubt it is in the same league as Monopoly.
Doesn’t appeal to me but yeah this a clever way to sell a few extra boxes. I still haven’t played zombiecide, would be good to know from fellow cogs if it’s worth trying. I know there’s a western version upcoming and I believe there’s a sci-fi ‘last days on Mars’ type of game as well.
I’ve backed the reboot kickstarter. Seemed like a good way to get a lot of survivors and interesting zombie sculpts for Last Days(Ofsprey). Gameplay really pleasantly surprised me. I do understand this is considered one of the easier itterations and I use rules from the washington Z.C expansion to make it as hard as possible. This does still often mean you are in a hard spot untill a certain point. There’s often just this point where halfway through where you feel you can’t loose unless you make some really dumb decision. When you do loose the game, it’s mostly bad… Read more »
That’s great, thanks for the run down. My gaming group is made up of good mates and when we do get together there’s usually a lot of catching up so sometimes a game that’s easy to play, keep track of is better than something a bit more in depth while we Whittier away. We just want to throw some dice around really and we all love zombies so may take a closer look at these games in the future. Thanks again appreciate it ?
I’ve got the majority of the 1st Edition content and Black Plague/Green Horde and my group normally have a whale of a time mucking about in each. Just don’t do what I did and straight away combine all the equipment decks – it’ll just give you a headache….
I must admit I’d likely lean to this medieval version which looks to be the Black Plague you’ve mentioned but there’s certainly a few varieties to choose from. Mucking about certainly sounds like a winner for my lot. Thanks @dawfydd greatly appreciated ?
Zombicide is a good game and is basically the basis for modern non-campaign co-op dungeon crawlers. You whack monsters, level up, pick up better gear, etc. The zombie AI is pretty predictable, but they get WAY more dangerous as more of them show up, which works pretty much perfectly for the skin. Most of the tactics is risk management and positioning (sometimes you need some survivors to cover one zombie spawn point while others grab objectives and stuff like that). It isn’t crazy tactical, but maybe tactical enough. I can also say with confidence that the game plays great without… Read more »
Thank you @odinsgrandson always great to get a second opinion and a pretty in depth one at that. I think the Night of the Living Dead might have passed under my radar so will be going to be giving that a look. Greatly appreciated, my thanks to both yourself and darkvoivod ?
I allready have zombicide and I don’t feel like I need another iteration.
I’d buy it for the superheroes, but I;m invested in Marvel Crisis Protocol mini’s.
Marvel Zombies was a fun read, but didn’t have any staying power. Should’ve left it at the first series.
Lol that’s nuttily funny Avengers reassemble?
“the Marvel-ous infection” @fcostin what a delicious pun.
I have often been tempted by Zombicide but never backed any, I am even more tempted now!
My word, I ever commit to backing a Marvel Themed game, I am going to have get out a large personal loan.
