Happy Sunday everyone. I am trying desperately to paint fifty ork boyz. and this is good company this early in the morning………
Nice paint sets. All boxed sets should come with tutorials like that on how to use them to achieve different effects.
Great video again guys thanks. I have the vallejo non-metallic metal set also done by Angel, that is very good too, they are all really good packs. I think GW’s biggest problem is that they are still of the mindset that they ARE the hobby, and it will go in thee direction they choose, rather than adapting to where the hobby itself is going. In the ’90s and early 2000’s, at least in the UK, they were right, but the internet and the choice of games that it has brought to more eyes since then means that really isnt true… Read more »
The issue is you wouldn’t have had to, a lot of the gaming companies beginning to gain ground on GW are doing so by filling the niches left void by GW in it’s decision to focus on 2 systems. They may be extremely aggressive when it comes to their IP rights, they have let slip through their hands our souls and by default our wallets by not continuing with the games we all love, it is this they should have protected.
That was quite funny, BoW discovers pledge managers 🙂
If only Mantic, Martian Front, AvP, etc had that for their KS campaigns… oh, wait… never mind…
🙂 cool, I’ve not gone through a kickstarter personally so it’s great to know.
I think John particularly liked what Anvil Industry had done with there Afterlife pledge manager, so it seemed like a good idea to have a chat about it from the laymans point of view. It may help some others like me pop our kickstarter cherries lol.
@witteridderludo out of the pledge managers you’ve maybe used did you have a favorite?
Happy Sunday!
Happy Sunday everyone. Im soo happy that the Batman miniatures game is getting some coverage. Underplayed little game 🙂
‘Custard bum’.
LMAO.
I think the biggest problem of GW is just that 10 years ago i was only able to purchase GW models cause there werent any other brands in my town. Now, with internet, with global e-commerce you have almost endless choices. To play a GW game you need a large table, a lot of miniatures and a lot of time that right now, with a job & a wife i dont have. When i was a teenager i could spend a full day playing now i cant. Now my wargaming days are spent on small skirmish games and my mine… Read more »
Happy Sunday. Im going to have to watch most of this tonight as I’m off to Warfare shortly to get in supplies for the winter. You can never have enough resin, plastic and lead.
Those paint sets look great…. Would like to a follow up on those pin markers Justin :o)
the majority of Hobby Kickstarters have had pledge managers.
some it is as simple as writing an email style or filling a spread sheet, and some are more like a custom webstore.
Mantic started with a fancy Google Spreadsheet for their first and evolved. from there.
Mierce setup a special section on their webstore and apply the credits, with special pricing.
there are companies that have made pledge managers, like fundafull that do it for multiple different kickstarters, as a third party/proxy.
this is not new but has been happening for a long time now.
Hmm, I think that model making app could offer us something really useful from a painting perspective.. as long as there was a P3 / Vallejo / GW pallette that you could apply and they toned down the surface reflectivity so you could get something to an accurate colour representation. On the model making side, I think it would be useful if you wanted to scratch build a vehicle and you needed a diagram that you could essentially exploded / un-explode at will.. but since some / most (?) of the models in the store appear to be from existing,… Read more »
something *close* to an accurate colour representation, I mean.
Great show guys. Love the paintsets. They are going on my xmas list. 😀
That episode was so much bun!
I mentioned at the end of my GenCon report that GW were very conspicuous by their absence. It did seem to me then that they were missing out by refusing to come out of their own little bubble. I’m not sure whether big box board games are the way to go. The ceiling for those products is very much lower than for minis games. That was apparent in the the survey of North American gaming revenue that ICv2 released in the summer. I do think that the barrier into the GW hobby is too high for many potential consumers, probably… Read more »
Sitting at 12 kickstarter backed projects now and every one i have backed so far has had some pledge manager involved. Mantic usually set up their own pledge Manager but others use Backerit which is becoming more common. Allot of pledges are X ammount of miniatures or faction starters and then extra addons so you can lock in and adjust pledge levels as the kickstarter progresses. The pledge manager is also handy if you want to add a bunch of extras on after the Kickstarter ends and didn’t have cash free when kickstarter was on. Allot of times i have… Read more »
This was my bad here. I’ve only backed two and one does have a manager and the other doesn’t. So it was me being in the dark on the subject, 🙂
Now I need an airbrush AND more paints! Would John mind doing a tutorial on the pigments he uses and how they are applied?
Vallejo painting sets are really god.
I want Liam Neeson.
To be fair he is a very desirable man.
Cheers Lloyd, now I’ve got to head off to Gregg’s! Good show especially interested in the paint sets, V nice!
Great video guys
Years ago (and I mean YEARS ago) I was writing software that did 3d rendering, allowing people to manipulate shapes. I then had the fantastic idea “hey, I could render lego bricks and people could build stuff” but my idea was shot down by various people whose opinion I trusted saying things like “why would anyone want to do that?” Well a few years later Lego Creator software was created followed many years later by MineCraft etc. Think about it. You can now specify your own lego model by building it virtually and getting it boxed up. Imagine if there… Read more »
You keep mentioning GW. They STILL haven’t released an army list builder linked to their store:
1. Build an army list (you still need a Codex to understand the rules etc.)
2. Tick which bits of the list you have
3. Press a button to create a wish list
4. Order it from the store…
How easy is that!
happy Sunday!
I’m really looking forward to the Batman miniatures game – but I’m a little afraid as I’ve heard that casting quality is kind of poor. So winning the starter set would be great! 🙂
I’ve got a lot of their minis and the only bit of casting I wasn’t happy with was on one of the gloves of the Frank Miller Batman. The gaps between the ridges were filled in and there wasn’t enough definition to know what to file away. Other than that they’ve been great.
I would like to add, that although I have many of the minis, I don’t have the League of Shadows 😉
Hi all.
Another excellent show. It was interesting listening to Warrens thoughts on the new ceo.
Like John I use to hate apple, now I would be lost without my iPad. Much better than any other tablet.
Like the new paint sets, will look out for them.
As I have said before about other shows, let’s have one a month without Warren, it’s a completely different type of show.
Best wishes to mother and baby.
