So after years of nothing really happening, looks like the Spainish remake of Heroquest has finally died off.
HASBRO POISED TO RE-LAUNCH HEROQUEST IN EUROPE
Hasbro Announces Future Plans to Bring the Popular Role-Playing Game to Market in the Region
PAWTUCKET, RI – Nov 15, 2021 – Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ:HAS) announced today it is set to re-launch the HeroQuest brand in Europe. The return of HeroQuest, an epic, high-fantasy, role-playing board game made in 1989 where the fate of the world is in the players’ hand, was officially announced last year for fans to purchase via a Haslab crowdfunding campaign. The Haslab HeroQuest game features new art, premium miniature figures and exclusive quest books for an enhanced gameplay experience and increased collectability. The brand will be developed under Hasbro’s Avalon Hill label.
European-based gaming company Ludofilia formally renounced ownership of its HeroQuest European trademark and its tabletop game project will be rebranded, though the contents will remain unchanged. Ludofilia will now be offering fans who previously supported Ludofilia’s independent crowdfunding campaign the OPTION to receive Hasbro’s version of the game, Ludofilia’s rebranded game, or both.
“The fans have been asking, and we have answered! We’re thrilled to expand the reach of the HeroQuest brand to Europe,” said Angus Walker, Global Brand Lead, Avalon Hill at Hasbro. Stay tuned for more news from Hasbro on the upcoming launch of HeroQuest and the game coming to European fans. You can also find more information on HeroQuest on the official Hasbro Pulse site here.
***Hasbro is no way affiliated with Ludofilia, and Ludofilia’s crowdfunding campaign is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Hasbro.***
Gamezone has this on it’s website
Ludofilia’s tabletop game is being rebranded as TseuQuesT.
– Ludofilia, in an accord with Hasbro, has renounced all its valid Heroquest trademarks throughout Europe. Ludofilia used those trademarks to cover its version of the board game that it offered in crowdfunding and pre-sale. From now on the board game will be RENAMED TseuQuesT. The exact contents or the game itself will remain unchanged.
-It only the name has changed, all of the board game content remains unchanged, except for the use of the new brand TseuQuesT to encompass all its components.
– Both Backers and pre-sale customers have had to endure with extreme patience the continuous delays of the official launch of our board game. Finally, the foreseen delivery date by the European-based printing company is for the end of the first quarter of 2022. If all goes well, from that date we will start shipping your games.
-Optionally, Backers and pre-sales customers will have the chance to exchange their reserved copies of the Ludofilia game for copies of the Hasbro version of Heroquest: ONLY 1 FOR BACKER (more information on CANJE HQ)
-This exclusive exchange offer for crowdfunding backers and pre-sales made by customers until the day before this announcement -November 15, 2021-
-From this moment, any new client who wants to pre-buy the TseuQuesT board game can do so here.
-The current price of the TseuQuesT is the same as offered during the crowdfunding campaign, and will remain until the day of its official launch, at which time its price will be adjusted upwards.
We greatly thank Hasbro for their professionalism and cordiality since our first contact at the beginning of 2013 until now.
November 15, 2021 at 9:55 pm #1694659I am not entirely sure what is going on, that seems to suggest that they are actually now progressing again. It is possible that Gamezone have actually struck a deal with Hasbro and essentially sold the trademark or struck some deal that potentially enables them to complete the project albeit under a different (and I have to say totally shit) name. Tseuquest is literally just a Palindrome using the word Quest
November 16, 2021 at 5:43 am #1694708I guess Hasbro made them an offer they couldn’t refuse….
“We’ll pay you X amount of gold coins now… or we’ll sue the fuck out of you, blocking you selling your stuff until you run out of money and then we take it from your dead corpse”
Now let’s see and wait when it’ll hit stores shelves in the EU and at what price…
“The fans have been asking, and we have answered!”
Asking? They where bloody screaming at you from the top of their lungs you dickheads! AND THERE WAS NO REPLY! TOTAL SILENCE! Wankers….
November 16, 2021 at 7:50 am #1694709Who thought that was a good idea for a renaming?
How long has that game been in production now? I remember trying to get my wife enthustastic for backing it, because she kinda likes the OG heroquest, since it’s nice and light. The several changes of platforms send out so much red flags I quickly decided against it.Nice the other version becomes available for those that want it, but I think I’ll go the Warzan route and bling the old version I have. There’s some nice STL files out there to replace some of the harder to get mini’s.
It’s also mostly a passion project. Having played it a few years ago it isn’t so much a game as it is a big box of tools for kids to play out there adventures with. Which was exaclty why I loved it so much as a kid.November 16, 2021 at 10:05 am #1694738Ha! I got that email, thought the name was bizarre. Didn’t notice it was a crap palindrome.
November 16, 2021 at 11:42 am #1694790I was surprised to get this too… Actually not sure what to do now. I don’t really want the new Heroquest, and would rather have the figures that Gamezone were making… But whether they’ll ever deliver is another question! (They have shown photos of piles of minis, so they clearly got somewhere, even if not to the end…)
November 16, 2021 at 12:01 pm #1694791I’m with you on that. The Hasbro minis were of no interest to me, definitely rather have the Gamezone ones… but I won’t hold my breath
November 16, 2021 at 12:12 pm #1694793@sundancer if Gamezone legitimately owned the trademark, a lawsuit would be difficult. What they would likely have done is what Facebook have done with Meta – just start using it despite the trademark already being registered knowing that Gamezone would be unlikely to mount any meaningful legal challenge. Also, I could be wrong, but the quote of “the fans have been asking” is from Hasbro, not Gamezone. I think it was in their press release last year
I do agree that Gamezone have likely sold the trademark rather than simply given it up but by all accounts they needed to if they ever wanted to have any chance of fulfillment of their original crowdfunding campaign. I think everyone has pretty much written that off as a failed project and I don’t really expect to see anything come of this either if I am honest. It was interesting how the option to receive a Hasbro game was being offered.
November 16, 2021 at 12:52 pm #1694804but the quote of “the fans have been asking” is from Hasbro, not Gamezone.
Yes it is from Hasbro what makes it even more insulting because from day1 of that dreaded pulse thing people screamed at them… and Hasbro didn’t reply to anybody.
It’ll be interesting to see how far this will spread and be available… and at what price point. Currently I have zero info on prices in Germany in this…
November 16, 2021 at 5:05 pm #1694951Hasbro, much like Games Workshop, don’t reply because as frustrating as it might be for us, it’s less risky to them to say nothing than to say something. Whatever they say, someone’s going to take unbridge with it. They will make statements when they have something to say and not a moment before
November 16, 2021 at 5:16 pm #1694956That may be true to a degree but I guess we can agree on one thing: With all the Pulse and “America only” stuff from the beginning Hasbro really fumbled big time
November 16, 2021 at 6:43 pm #1694996To be honest I don’t think they will see it that way, especially seeing as they managed to set up other sales channels during crowd funding
In the grand scheme things, Hasbro’s Heroquest is looking like a success
November 16, 2021 at 6:52 pm #1694998November 23, 2021 at 4:29 pm #1696839In terms of the statement below – does anyone know what they mean by get more information on CANJE HQ. I previously pre-ordered a couple years ago and think I would prefer to exchange to Hasbro…?
Optionally, Backers and pre-sales customers will have the chance to exchange their reserved copies of the Ludofilia game for copies of the Hasbro version of Heroquest: ONLY 1 FOR BACKER (more information on CANJE HQ)
November 23, 2021 at 6:59 pm #1696889I think you need to get in touch with the company behind it directly.
