Paint It Or Punt It by ninjilly

We start with some work from ninjilly who has come up with a pretty fun way of working through their collection. Called "Pain It Or Punt It", this project is focused on either getting stuff from the collection painted or shifting it on. Thankfully, this has made for some really neat painting projects.

It seems apt that I would highlight the painting of some Middle-earth miniatures to begin with. This take on Gandalf is just great and I love all the extra detail worked into the sculpt. The touches of highlighting here and there really sell the miniature and give it another level of depth.

Going from Fantasy to Sci-Fi, we also had these excellent Judges from the Judge Dredd miniatures game. Some amazingly poppy miniatures are on display here.

I really like how the colour choices here match the look and feel of the characters from the comics. The bright green is spot on and it works really well against their dark black clothing and big gold shoulder pads. A solid set of miniatures that would look excellent when introduced into the skirmishes of Mega-City One.

But, this isn't the only thing ninjilly has been working on. They have also done some amazing work in the Historical sector too. Have a look at this bundle of Napoleonics.

Again, a really solid scheme with lots of detail given over to making these miniatures look and feel like individuals. I love the spots of bright colour with the greens and reds here which work against the blue and white. All the facial hair has been given a neat spotlight too. You always have to paint up moustaches well!

A really fun idea that is revealing all manner of interesting results. Maybe this is something others should have a pop at to clean through our piles of potential?

Infinity by shingen

The next project we're looking at takes us back to the work by shingen. They have done some amazing work over the last year or so within the world of Infinity and it hasn't stopped as we move into the twilight of 2021.

Once again, the painting by shingen is great because it retains the poppy colours of the world of Infinity whilst also dealing with darker tones that ground the miniatures. This way you preserve the anime look and feel of the world of Infinity whilst also making it feel a bit more realistic.

This is a great set of miniatures that have recently popped up from shingen that cover all manner of different factions within the game. I really like the work on this fellow above for example with the really fun base that shows the Remote clambering over a twisting cable.

One of the most interesting projects that popped up was this fellow. Painted up for the Mayacast Masterglass, this fellow is packed with detail.

I really like the cell-shaded look that shingen went for with this miniature and it's a fascinating way of working on the characters from Infinity. I'm not sure how it would work for a whole force but I think it looks really good on an individual character like this. Really fun and a neat challenge that shingen took up.

Ancients by hutch

Last but not least we're looking at some Ancients from hutch. Some fantastic Forged In Battle Ancients are on the cards here and it has been awesome seeing this regiment coming to life. I am a big fan of hefty 15mm Ancient armies and this ticks all of the boxes.

Once again, I really like that we have a good mix of earthy tones and the bright colours that you often find on these Ancient miniatures. I really like the way the armour and clothing on their bodies have been painted, drawing the eye and adding detail with just a smidge of extra painting. It gets even more impressive once you see the larger regiment!

Now that is quite the eye-opener. Imagine those walking towards you across the tabletop. You'd never want to go anywhere near those spears. I think you'd want to be careful about leaning over the tabletop too when these are waving about.

This project is nowhere near complete yet but this is a neat look at the planning, painting and building of an army for use in some Ancient games on the tabletop. I really like the planning that has gone into this one and I would love to see the final result once everything has been finished.
