Heroes Of Might And Magic Comes To The Tabletop In 2022
October 15, 2021 by brennon
Archon Studio has announced that Heroes Of Might And Magic III: The Board Game is going to be coming to the tabletop next year via Kickstarter. Their November 2022 campaign is a ways off but they have already been sharing details about this new adaptation of the classic PC game.
Heroes Of Might And Magic III: The Board Game // Archon Studio
The board game will follow the themes of the PC game with players exploring a hexagonal world map packed with tiles and utilises a chess-like battle system. Much like in the game you'll start off from one of three Towns, Inferno, Castle (and a yet to be announced faction) and from there your hero will find creatures and other allies that you are able to bind to your will.
You'll meet lots of classic creatures from the game as well as heroes like Catherine Ironfitst and Xeron. Many of these creatures and characters that you meet will be represented by detailed miniatures like the one for Medusa that you see below.
Medusa // Archon Studio
As well as this, the game will offer up a chance to fight alongside Archangels, infamous Devils, and the all-time classic Dragons. Everyone loves a good dragon, right? All of this will be brought to life thanks to the wealth of artwork that sits in the Heroes Of Might And Magic vaults!
Cards & Creatures // Archon Studio
As you travel throughout the land you will find these creatures but also work on collecting different Artefacts that can help you claim victory. You will also have to master both might and magic (as the name of the game would suggest!). Learn from four different schools of magic and then level up your hero will all manner of abilities.
It will be interesting to see how much of this board game is a replication of the digital experience and what else it can add to the mix. Heroes Of Might And Magic was born in an age where a lot of strategy games felt like board games on the screen so it makes sense to adapt it for the tabletop. It will be neat to see what else the tabletop version adds that makes it fun for those who remember the games and anyone who is new to the franchise.
This one is still a way off but we will no doubt see more teasers for this project popping up in the coming year!

Tempting. Really tempting. I loved playing HoM&M3 and HoM&M4 back in day so this one hits my nostalgia.
Never played this more a baldur’s gate adventurer but the card’s art and the medusa are looking fantastic for gaming.
Another mountain of plastic with a average board game attached? I suppose the rights holder gets double-bubble. Sell the miniatures rights to one company, and the ‘board game’ licence to another.
What material will the mini’s be made of? The Archon Unicast mini’s are excellent, and their sprue plastics are quite good. OTOH, I’d read reviews of their most recent games (eg. Masters of the Universe when it comes out) first.
If you only want mini’s (and terrain), take a look at Archon’s “Dungeons and Lasers” late pledge (same prices as KS backers) and upcoming “Rampart” KS. The sprue plastic is good quality and Archon give a *lot* in terrain bits and miniatures, though the mini’s assortment is a little randomish (a fire elemental in a village and castle terrain KS?).
Interesting.
I already have the Boardgame based on the HoMMvI, but that one didn’t quite do it for me.
I do have most fond memories pf part 2.
Played a lot of that when the missus and me started dating and it was already pretty old by that time.
Might even be able to tempt her to get into this.
