Don't Look Back by Johnscop

What better way to start off October than with a game all about a classic horror trope of slashers stalking their innocent victims through the woods around a lonely cabin. Johnscop has been working on the core set for Don't Look Back, among others, and the sack hooded hammer man looks really happy with their life choices.

Johnscop is also a fan of the MDF kits to set the games around and they really tell the tale on the tabletop, he even has plans to expand on the terrain with 3D printed pieces, but for now, the work he has done shows just how good combing miniature painting with terrain making can be.

Each of the sets he has completed tell a terrifying tale on the table.

Ranger Diorama by thedace

Thedace has been working on his first diorama using a ranger from Zolotoy Dub. The work on the ranger has pulled together a pallette of autumnal colours to make it look as if he is dressed for the season stalking through the falling leaves after his prey. It's a subtle camouflage style of painting that completely fits the miniature's aesthetic and looks fantastic.

The resin stepped base from Fenris has been detailed to look as if it is being reclaimed by nature like an ancient civilisation that has crumbled and their ruins are overgrown with flora over countless years.

Having the Ranger looking off the base from his vantage point is an interesting way of composing the diorama, it shows you don't need more than one miniature to tell a story.

Minions of the Von Carsteins by Boomer

With the return of Warhammer Fantasy only years away Boomer has felt inspired by some games of Total War to start building an Undead army for the classiest of vampires, the Von Carsteins. The work on the Wight King is a beautiful example of what Boomer has been doing throughout the project so far.

As you can see there is a mix of traditional brush painting to give texture to the smooth plastic sculpt combined with a stunning bit of airbrushing on the sword to give the effect of a sinister magical blade wielded by the revenant.

Together these help contrast across the miniature and make him stand out as a heroic figure as he stalks the Old World.
