Check Out The Big Kickstarter Package For Heavy Gear Blitz!
November 8, 2014 by brennon
Dream Pod 9's Heavy Gear Blitz! and the War for Terra Nova has quite the big bundle of neat stuff for you to get stuck into. If you'd like to see just what's available right now on the Kickstarter then check it out below!
Not bad if you really want to check out a whole bunch of mechs in lovely plastic. I do like the design of the standard mechs a lot more than the tanks and such but that's just my opinion on the matter. I'm sure people (and the funding certainly shows it!) will love everything about this Kickstarter.
If you want to find out a bit more about the world of Heavy Gear and each of the factions then you can check out some neat information on them like The North and The South above over on the Kickstarter. There's quite a lot of fluff to wrap your head round so make sure to give these a read.

Love the minis and love the world they have created but (to me) the rules are soooooooo complicated (previous edition).
Rules are being updated right now, they are in a Beta state, but another big update is coming in a few weeks to have even simpler rules while keeping many tactical options.
Eeyup, the new ruleset is definitely all about making the game competitive with other modern rulesets. Less complicated, but retains lots of depth.
I hope that is true. I really want to buy into this game system, I did buy into infinity however as that too as lauded as being “much simpler now” which it maybe but I just couldn’t get my head round it. Do you reckon this is any easier to learn?
Army building rules in Heavy Gear are a nightmare. I really hope they fix that.
The new Beta rules are freeform. You take the Priority Level at the squad you want, you fill the squad up with models by the number of Actions they have, and then you decide whether you want a support unit.
Indeed, it allow for a lot more of mixing of models, you can now have a squad of 4 Hunters (4 actions) and put 2 Grizzlys in supprt (2 actions).
I have loads of them as it is, yet I don’t even know a single person in my gaming clubs that plays it. It’s a shame as the models do look fine.
If you like, the DP9 forums offer a place where players can give shouts out for local players in their vicinity.
Also I created a Facebook Group, Terra Nova DMZ, intended for Heavy Gear Universe players around the world.
And we’ve blasted past the latest stretch goal. Four more models were added to the set. Now would be a great time to encourage friends to get in on this.
With 44 Miniatures for 4 different factions coming in the set, even if you don’t know someone who plays now, you will get enough figures to introduce the game to others. I already have some Heavy Gear stuff that my LGS was getting rid of for cheap, that I bought just because I thought they looked cool and wanted to paint them (that’s mostly what I do instead of playing due to no one local being interested in joining me). Seriously though this is a great deal of Minis for the price.
