Star Wars Episode VII Gets Its Title On Last Day Of Filming

Star Wars Episode VII has got itself a title on the last day of filming and it's called The Force Awakens. It's certainly pointing towards there being a resurgence of the Jedi under the tutelage of Luke Skywalker and hopefully a few others too. There's still very little to go on concerning the plot however...
What would you like to see come up in Episode VII? More Jedi and Luke Skywalker? More focus on Han Solo and the Rebels cleaning up The Empire? Maybe the old cast vanishing half way through and the narrative taking on entirely new characters quickly?
Let us know!
That’s a tricky one. It feels like, in order for a new trilogy to be ‘accepted’ by the fans of the original, it will need to focus on a small band of likeable underdogs defying the odds to defeat some galactic-wide menace.. while not adding anything new… while not being a reboot.
Sometimes what I think my fellow Star Wars fans want is to have their minds wiped so they can enjoy EP IV – VI all over again without anyone making another new movie 😉
Good luck, Mr Abrams, you have a very tough crowd to please!
No he doesn’t.
To make a Star Wars film suck as much as the prequel trilogy requires a very specific talent set. They where poorly cast, poorly written, poorly designed, poorly directed and a bland cgi-fest.
I have faith in Abrams. The leaks we have seen so far, hvåave me bouncing with joy.
The title is epic.
+1
I am quite looking forward to seeing what Abrams does with this
Oh I hope they delete the whole Midichlorian nonsense from the canon
Well, that’s kind of my point. I disagree that they suck. There were many things wrong with the prequel trilogy but IMHO if EP IV – VI had never been made, they would have been ok films. But the combination of the above faults combined with the treasured memory of the original trilogy meant that most Star Wars fans can’t see the films for what they are.. only that they missed the pass / fail test of “Is this my Star Wars?”. Same with the Clone Wars animates series which was – IMHO – very good for the most part… Read more »
I disagree. I’m not a massive Star Wars fan, but I am a massive film buff. I watch a lot, and I mean a LOT of films from many different genres. I think I am perfectly capable of judging a film on its own merits. In my opinion the prequel trilogy are really quite bad films. I honestly couldn’t care about midi whatsits or Jarjar Binks or anything else that fans have objected to. The things I ask from a film is that it is well written, both in terms of plot and dialogue, it is well acted, it has… Read more »
Fair enough, I have a friend who seems to have a similar dispositon to you – he doesn’t care for Star Wars and thus rates the films (or what he could stand to watch of them) purely on their merit as films.. and he says much the same thing.
..of course, I disagree with him, too 😀
I have no doubt, however, that Abrams will bring us a good film just as he did with the two Trek films and IMHO, Cloverfield, although I guesd opinion is divided on that one.
It does take a special talent to make those films that bad. I mean, any other film starring Liam Neeson, Samuel L. Jackson’s, Natalie Portman, Christopher Lee and Ewan McGregor would have been terrific. Or at least we would have believed that these actors had ever seen a human being before. Natalie Portman is the worst of the lot, and she has an Oscar for Black Swan now. Not only did they have the worst drivel they could have for dialogue (every line is meant to be stated with deadly seriousness) but it seems like Lucus must have combed through… Read more »
Well it’s actually rather good name.
It certainly has promise. I wonder if we’re looking at a kind of Jedi Academy scenario here, complete with Kyle Katarn..
Why was the Force asleep? Hmm?
I’m not a fan of the “Awakens” bit…..makes it sound like the force being used properly for the first time.
But it’s more of a resurgence of the force.
Resurgence of the Force – is a much cooler title – But in a world where ‘Philosophers Stone’ gets changed to Sorcerer’s Stone’ due to understanding issues, I can see very clearly why the have worded it ‘Awakens’.
Bloody about time it woke up!
Abrams raped Star Trek.
I don’t have any like for him, but at least this Star Wars is not a reboot.
