Unboxing: Tank Platoons Of Bolt Action – Part 1 The American Shermans!
November 4, 2014 by dignity
Welcome to an in-depth and epic Unboxing of the Tank Platoons of Bolt Action! The first set we're going to look at are the Shermans, so see what we think of both the miniatures and the history of these rumbling American tanks!
The Full Playlist!
Part 3: British Cromwells (Coming Soon!)
Great stuff – not such a huge tank fan, but I liked the detailed component review with an eye on real world design.
The last 10 seconds are disturbing!
i thought it was rather funny 🙂
It was creepy 😉
But then, it was numa numa – so how could it be anything else!
Another great video by the dynamic duo. Great info as always, The best part is the last 10 seconds.I almost fell out of my chair laughing so hard.
While I don’t usually care all that much for ww2 wargaming (I’m more Fantasy/scifi), after watching the movie “Fury” I am a bit tempted to get a shermanXP
Nice unboxing – good value for money too, though it will be interesting to compare them to the Rubicon 28mm M4 kit.
Simply compare it to their own resin kit… it is a pity that Italeri has done such a low-level detailed tank compared to the warlord games resin.
have to say the film fury the tank they used looked to me more like a british firefly as the barrel was huge compared to the other shermans that were with them.
And yes we need more Beast of War Karaoke lol 🙂
Did John ever do a painting video for the hull of the tank, or colours to use for American / Russian / British armour? There doesn’t seem to be a tankgod tag and I’m not sure if all of those videos are showing up if I browse the 3 Colours Up selection.. or maybe they are, and I just imagined it.
With all those new tanks we will surely be buying (I have just finished assembling my Cromwell and Churchill) it would be useful to know what colours to paint ’em 🙂
I’ve been using VMC Russian Green for British armour, if that’s any help.
Ah ha! That’s what I recently ordered from Wayland (plus Russian Uniform green for highlighting) as I’m going to have a go at painting it with my airbrush 🙂
Use Vallejo US dark green. Perfect for american helmets, bazooka, and vehicles.
Nice unboxing strange ending (was that a when the boss is away moment their)?
Just got in from work, cuppa made, computer on, check whats on BoW today. Great some tank stuff. Slurp tea and relax and enjoy.
Im now off to bed feeling slightly disturbed and unclean as I have just been subjected to some rather strange fellows attempting to sing I do hope I sleep well tonight *sniff* I need a hug
personal preference would be the sherman firefly or the m 18 hellcat
Are the Italeri tanks simple repacks of already existing Italeri kits or were they pecially designed for Warlord games ?
As far as I know, before the Warlord co-operation Italeri didn’t make 1:56 scale stuff. So I believe the Italeri Bolt Action tanks are all new products.
Sorry, I keep repeating myself: please assemble the models on display.
Sure, you just do what’s said on the tin, an unboxing. However, back in the day (and in one single more recent instance) there was the added value of your opinion on *the actual model*. Seeing the two-part tracks here, for example, these could well be a pain in the neck. I’d thought that single-piece tracks were by now an established standard for wargaming models (military modellers rather use rubber bands and separate track pieces anyway).
Here’s still hope assembled will be shown after all three kits have been ‘unboxed’.

Check TCs channel out. He did all you d like to see.
Thanks, mate. 🙂
I know there would be other video reviews on YT. It’s just that such things could (and IMHO should) be included in BoW videos as well.
I agree with you. I would love to see models assembled, would make for much better content. The web is already full of people just unboxing things.
Whats with the philosophy that if BoW does something they want to be the best doing it ?
Agree from what I can see from the pictures that the Sherman tracks do seem too slack. Do you reckon there is a modelling way to straighten the track, to make it seem less slack, and still fit on the model?
Would like to see the finished model in the opening a box video like said above, and maybe a bit more about what the tank does/brings in the game of Bolt Action or Tank War?
Great vid guys. I would be interested in seeing if you plan to cover any of the blitzkreig miniatures ww2 tanks http://www.blitzkriegminiatures.com/ . They have two different scales for 28mm (1:48 and 1:56). They also seem to have some partnership with the Perry’s on their north africa range. Worth a look.
