Probably not the catchiest of company names but don't let that fool you as Best_3D_building are living up to their name with a range of STL files to make a city's worth of tabletop terrain on Kickstarter.
Medieval Empire Street // Best_3D_building
First off can I just say how much I love the composition of the pictures on this Kickstarter. It's not just here's 5 buildings and scatter, but they've been staged to look like actual streets and markets and they really set off exactly what you can achieve with these pieces.
Typical, only stopped for a moment and someone stole the horse!
This is not Best_3D_buildings first venture into Medieval buildings, but this time around they have gone for a more fantastical and stylised affair. It makes it perfect for people who may want to recreate Ankh-Morpork on the tabletop or play out Moonstone games in a major town. While this is not one for the medieval purists, among fantasy players I can see this getting a lot of attention as a range that is modular enough to fill a full board without looking repetitive. I absolutely love the design and look of these buildings from the chunky detail to the styling of the brickwork and wood. I can almost hear the watch running down the cobbled streets. (please note not all streets are cobbled, go feet) These should be a joy to paint and stand out without any real effort given the textures on the STLs.
Apart from the various buildings there are also city walls, gatehouses, carts, trade stalls and chests all unlocked already. There are only ten days left on the campaign so you have to be quick but if you are interested in citifying your tables then it is definitely worth checking out. There are even merchant level pledges available if you want to sell off chunks of the city at prices that are cutting your own throat!
What game would you play out on these streets?
Warcraft – that was my first impression. They do really look nice
Fab cartoony looking terrain to add to the table’s
Could make a cool moonstone town out of these.
Wouldn’t touch with a barge pole! These are 3D models, and if it’s anything like their previous work, probably not suitable for 3D printing. I backed their Wild West Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mythology3d/wild-west-buildings) that was totally unusable to be printed. I’ve since seen the updates of new Kickstarters coming out every month since from them and their name change (!). Kickstarter states New York, then Chicago, but they’re actually Eastern European. None of their previous Kickstarters, including the current one show printed models – they are all 3D renders. Don’t get me wrong, they look lovely and I love the style, but… Read more »
thanks for the heads up
Thanks @darkman for the heads up . I have read the community comments for the Wild West Kickstarter and there didn’t seem much satisfaction. I almost backed this … thank you Sir for your warning
