Warhammer+ Launches 25th August – Will You Be Signing Up?

Games Workshop is going to be launching Warhammer+ this week on 25th August. This will give you a chance to watch their new Warhammer Animations like Hammer And Bolter plus fix your peepers on their own shows and a back catalogue of digital content.

After seeing Old Bale Eye over the weekend, I must say that I was impressed by the quality of their animations. It will be interesting to see just how many episodes they actually have in the can to present to us weekly. Of course, they do have their internal shows like Loremasters and Battle Report which might also be worth a watch.
As well as their shows, Games Workshop has also mentioned the Warhammer Vault which will feature out-of-print books and issues of White Dwarf. You'll also find have access to both of their apps for Age Of Sigmar and Warhammer 40,000 if you're really into your gaming.
A couple of miniatures are also up for grabs but only after you've been subscribed for a full year. So, a fair few bits and bobs for those who dive in and back their new subscription service.
I am certainly interested in the idea behind Warhammer+ but I am worried about the longevity of the project. The proof will be in the pudding of course and if you're a big Warhammer fan then I could see this being well worth your time.
Are you going to be signing up for Warhammer+?

Just going to say “Hammer and Bolter”….!! 🙂
At this point, its a no from me, I still don’t think they have enough content to justify this. Clearly they will only grow the product if people subscribe, but there just isn’t enough to peak my interest currently. I also think the lore stuff is going to be heavily slanted from a GW pov as opposed to an objective critical discussion of the lore which other Youtube content creators provide. We don’t imagine we are going to get any insights into the history of their product that aren’t corporate, it just feels like its going to be making of… Read more »
Nope. There hasn’t been much incentive for me to go there in the first place but the “quality” and style of their “free preview” was a confirmation that this is not meant for me.
It’s about the price of a pint but Saturday’s preview said “get the pint”.
or get 3 pints in your Local Wetherspoons! (if you can put aside any personal biases that is!)
That’s true. Their breakfast ain’t bad either.
I don’t drink beer, but yeah … after seeing that example of an a(bo)nimation I’d rather spend it on something other than WH+
Like a second subscription to OTT or SAGA for example.
It’s hard to justify the price for what they have at the moment in my opinion but it’s just a starting point.
Not a chance. Appalling animation and nothing else they provide interests me. More like Warhammer-
I’m in – the archive and them rolling the costs for the 40k & AoS apps into the W+ sub makes it worth it to me. Everything else – animations, shows, the mini – are just bonuses
I wonder if that is what will ‘force’ most of their subscribers to pay up …
Heck, maybe GW should have focused more on that aspect and less on the animations.
Yes from me – the WD archive and the mini make this worthwhile for me, the other content is a bonus. Looking forward to it.
Maybe not yet … For me the interest is more in the applications for AOS and 40K plus the vault with out of print material and the White Dwarf. That alone is worth the pretty small sum of 5 pounds a month. The animations is generally not something I am that interested just because I generally dont watch a lot of TV shows. If you consider the model as well it is a lot of stuff for a low price in my view. So why not sign up right away ? Mainly because I dont think all the content is… Read more »
I hope it’s not a repeat of the rather silly launch of the 40k app all over again.
Remember when the link to the core rules was a download to a pdf ?
Never mind that both apps were useless if you picked the ‘free’ version.
I do wonder what will happen to the codexes that have been unlocked.
Not a chance! Not after that abysmal short they released last week. If I want in on any of this content, I’ll be getting in on it through recast “exclusives” and pirated videos, not lining GW’s pockets.
so this news just dropped on the Warhammer community site.
https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/08/23/want-a-10-voucher-subscribe-to-warhammer-in-august-and-its-yours/
Subscribe now and get a £10 voucher to use on GW’s site. And from Wednesday you get:
Episodes 1-3 of the Warhammer animated anthology, Hammer and Bolter
Episode 1 of the Warhammer animation Angels of Death
Access to the Warhammer Vault
Premium access to the Warhammer 40,000: The App
Two episodes of Battle Report
Two episodes of Citadel Masterclass
So it is 50 pounds for 12 months and now you get 10 pounds back in a voucher so that is 40 pounds or 3.30 a month to get access to both apps, the vault, animations, and the free model which to be honest is going to be worth about 32.00 pounds at GW prices.
I have to be honest that deal is so good I will have to change my view I cannot see a reason not to sign up early for it now.
I’d be interested to know from those that do sign how far back the White Dwarf back catalogue goes, and if the White Dwarfs are downloadable.
Something puzzle me about the Warhammer- deal. They offer a £10 voucher as incentive… but if you buy GW product from anoyone other than GW you get a 20% discount. No incentive.
You are getting 10 pounds free back if you go to a 3rd party you still have to pay the other 80% of that 10 pounds :). Also not all models are in stores at 20%. The direct sales ones most stores only can offer 10% if that and the forge world ones you can only buy from them.
It is a free 10 pound voucher their is no downside to that aspect.
I tried subscribing but I keep getting “Nurglings in the system – please try again.”
