Is it just me or is the GW Hammer& Bolter video a major miss fire?

Care to elaborate why it´s a miss fire?

I watched it now and I felt I was maybe 20 too old for the target group! . I thought it an alright animated product for the style. There is nothing new in the story, but felt more interesting to me that it was told from an ork perpective, rather than an old wizended imperial scribe. Overall I got the impression that it was very Warhammer 40K! Really cheesy! I don´t  enjoy that so much anymore myself.  But I don´t think it was particularly bad video.

Felt like it was aiming at a 10 to 12 year old age group to me

I watched it and didn’t like it to begin with, but after about 10 minutes was ok with it. It’s always hard to do Orks. I’m still interested to see the other shows.

I am not a Warhammer fan but I still felt disappointed. I thought the story was really basic as was the animation if you can call it that as it had mostly still frames. Not a good look for WH+.

It remined my in style of an 80’s cartoon which in itself is not a bad thing but I was expecting better production values in 2021. I also felt the story as maddgame suggested was basic. I get it was an ork telling a tale through a flash back which is a great concept. It just lacked anything interesting, the story had no depth and it is one most players are already aware of.

The characters felt the same, while the voice acting was good they are paper thin characters. No depth beyond them getting angry in each frame.

I have to accept if it was on TV I would have watched this so over all not bad about 6/10. As someone perhaps not that interested in Warhammer + it did nothing to make me want to find out what happens next.

Honestly I think some of the other shows are more interesting and also this is the first effort from them. So for now it is a bit of a wait and see if their is a “killer” must watch show that makes me want to sign up

Very underwhelmed. If this came out 10+ years ago when I was first getting into the hobby as a young teenager I think it would have been pretty good for the time but for 2021 I don’t think it really holds up.

Ultramarines was pretty amazing when it first came out, sure today we look at it and see all the flaws but at the time and it being the first ever 40K movie people really enjoyed it. Today people have seen Astartes and Death of Hope and the bar has been raised especially for paid content.

    If I’m honest I preferred the Emperor’s Text-to-Speech Device

I thought it was ok for what it is. The animation was a bit lacking, resembling more like a moving comic book. I did like that it was from on Ork point of view.

If this is going to be typical quality of most of the stuff on Warhammer TV then I don’t think it will be worth it for me.

Also I noticed they didn’t give a full credit list, not even voice actors.

It’s… something. Nothing I’d pay money for.

It was awful. From the animation style to the voices to the music, it was just awful. I made it to  about halfway before just canning it. The models you can get for subscribing are pretty nice, but, the animation sure is not a good sell for a year’s subscription to the service.

I liked it.  It was a fun short with an animation style that fit the orky grim silliness. Very 80s Heavy Metal. It hit the nostalgia button square on.

But then, I did not really expect much.

I am sure that whatever other animations they release will have wildly different styles and production values to them. Variety is good.

It is too bad we will probably never see The Death of Hope finished, or anything remotely similar made. I don’t think GW will sanction that type of horror in animations.

I think the best part for me was the classic banner in the background

    banner

    But that’s really about it.
