Fantasy Football Game, Myth & Goal, Tackles Kickstarter Soon
August 16, 2021 by brennon
Myth & Goal is a brand new Fantasy Football board game coming to Kickstarter soon from the folks at Blacklist Games! James Hewitt and Sophie Williams are behind the rules for this one so if you're a fan of the work by Needy Cat Games then you'll want to check this out.
Myth & Goal // Blacklist Games
During games of Myth & Goal, you'll take control of a unique team of sports stars made up of Elves, Dwarfs, Orcs and more. Myth & Goal will feature teams with their own strengths and weaknesses although managers will also be able to focus their attention and define the way their team plays even more.
The "goal" of the game is pretty simple. Score by throwing the ball through the goal or run it in for a touchdown for even more points. When the game ends, the player with the most points is considered the winner.
Myth & Goal Teaser Trailer // Blacklist Games
Myth & Goal is being designed to be fast-paced and deliver more options for players. For example, the game doesn't have to be played against a living opponent. An AI is being developed to run the other team which is pretty neat!

Athrian Sapphires // Blacklist Games
Belhurst Imperials // Blacklist Games
Westarch Ruffians // Blacklist Games
As well as making a team tied to a specific Fantasy race, you can also mix and match to create a team of all-stars from all manner of different players. There are also league rules for you to dive into if you want to get stuck into a proper "campaign" with your friends.
Are you tempted to give this one a go when it drops onto Kickstarter?

hmm… Yet another Fantasy Football game… there isn’t much information in it at the moment so I’ll reserve judgement when there is more information.
I’ve gone hard into their lasting tales kickstarter. The demo rules where quite promising.
For this game they also announce solo-rules for this game, for whom it interests.
I actually rather like their “generic fantasy” eastethic. So many companies have become so obsessed with creating their own look, generic has slowly become a unique look into itself.
I’m currently of mind that I’m set for fantasy football, though I’m reasonably sure they’ll have someting interesting to add to the genre. It should be worth it for a lot of people, knowing the deals they offer.
Yet another fantasy football game vs a fantasy football game from Needy Cat. I’m torn. I’m seriously torn.
Mmm death an bropkicks?
Still waiting for Blacklist to deliver Fantasy Miniatures Series 1 which is 8 months and counting late now, so very reluctant to back anything they do.
But if they offer a bucket load of plastic players that I can use in Blood Bowl I might be persuaded.
All depends on the quality of miniatures when they finally deliver them.
I’m desperate for more info on this game. I’d love to find a good fantasy football game that’s actually fun to play. But this release of 90s-style-vapour-ware-Flash-animations is actively putting me off it; I’m sick of games that are all style and no substance!
I am fully committed to Blood Bowl so no way can my wallet or storage allow for more games / teams / pitches etc.
Speaking of BB if anyone wants to discuss it I have set up a group here:

I strongly dislike trailers for games that show animation but no actual gameplay or components. Those teasers seem fit for a video game but not a board game. I like Blacklist games but those teasers are pointless. I believe they are a waste of money for the publisher and a waste of time for backers. I am always dubious of these videos because if the game is so good, why not show us the game versus some animation that has nothing to do with the game?
Given that James Hewitt had a hand in Blood Bowl & Blitz Bowl then I am cautiously optimistic. The problem becomes Blacklist Games are almost strictly a Kickstarter game company with very little retail presence after the fact, which would really handicap a good fantasy sports game. No one wants to wait another year-and-a-half for them to crank out more teams.
Genuinely surprised GW haven’t shut this down already with their usual powerfist in a china shop style of dealing with companies “borrowing” their ideas or likenesses…
Blood bowl was a bit of a rip off of Troll ball by Chaosium and Monsters of Midnight by TSR both of which are from the very early 80’s
Need to see some game play.
