The Start of My Own Animal Adventures!

About the Project
If anybody has been watching The Weekender, they will know about my discovery and entry into the world of Animal Adventures. Quick to my discovery whilst impatiently and eagerly waiting for the next Kickstarter campaign to be fulfilled, I found myself in serious need to paint up all of the miniature whimsical creatures I could get my hands on. The reasoning behind this is simple! Although I am a little bit of an animal enthusiast myself (slight understatement there), I found myself searching for a wonderful RPG to play with my nieces, who are young and incredibly creative. Once I showed the youngest the dogs and cats she could adventure with, there was no going back! Together, me and my niece will be painting through Dungeons & Doggies, Cats and Catacombs and the Animal Adventure series. To eventually explore these whimsical worlds together.

Animal Adventures: Tales of Dungeons & Doggies - Adventurers Unleashed: Volume One
Before I head into the world of Animal Adventures, I wanted to have at least one miniature prepped so I do have my own little good boy to adventure with.
As I am currently packing up my life in boxes to move over to Ireland, I must say, it was very difficult to not make a start on some painting! By difficult, I mean it was incredibly difficult to resist! I just wanted to get started.
Therefore, starting with Animal Adventures: Tales of Dungeons & Doggies – Adventurers Unleashed: Volume One.
Contained in the box you get a mix of different Dogs with different classes:
Cornelius, Golden Retriever Wizard
Tedric, Chihuahua Rogue
Cerysse, St. Bernard Cleric
Svetlana, Beagle Barbarian
Morgaine, Daschund Sorcerer
Flint, Blueheel Ranger
I know I am mean, I know I am playing with my niece and I could have at least waited to let her pick what one she wanted to paint before I tucked in. But I couldn’t resist, and what better good boy to start with than the Golden Retriever Wizard?!
This is Cornelius the Golden Retriever Wizard. He is dressed to the nines with his Wizard hat and equipped with the world’s finest of potions and double wielding two spellbooks.
Before putting on any paint, I wanted to do a bit of research on how I would like to tackle this perfect pupper. And wanted to get the fur as close to and detailed as I could. I love animals, and my favourite type of dog is a Goldie – so I wanted to make sure I was doing it justice!
Ah yes, this project is perfect for providing you all with adorable and feel-good and wholesome dog photos. So to explain to you all where I have drawn my inspiration from – please do enjoy the random and obscure imagery which has made me smile, and that I have also gained perspective from!
As I am used to painting light to dark with a gradual fade, you can see on the underlying of the fur from this lil sweetheart on his bike, that it is indeed a really pale cream, and slowly generates to a darker layer on top.
Why I chose this particular cutie on a bike, is that you really can see the light to dark and patterns in his fur. Plus, the bike is an added bonus and guaranteed smile from ya’ll.
