About the Project

In this project I'll be taking my fledgling steps into Marvel Crisis Protocol. I'll be trying out some techniques and paints I've never used before. Wish me luck.

Juggernaut part 3

Next I based the metal and helmet with dryad bark. I then lightly stippled this with Ryza rust.

After that I was concrete time.

Juggernaut part 2

I based his leathers in a dark redy/brown. This was washed with agrax earthshade and highlighted with a light redy/brown.

His jump suit was based in beastly brown from vallejo.  This was washed with agrax earthshade.  I then drybrushed it with beastly brown again and then again very lightly with ivory.

Juggernaut part 1

I started with the skin. I did this in my usual way; Cadian fleshtone, Reikland flesh wash,  Cadian fleshtone and then edge highlight with Kislev flesh. Since he had such well defined veins I gave them a thin coat of Aethermatic blue contrast.

Because he’s such a huge model I could paint other parts on him while I waited for washes to dry. So I started the traffic light.

I painted these in much the same way as the traffic lights and the metal bits on Magneto.  The whole thing was given a heavy wash of agrax earthshade to dirty it up.

Quicksilver part 3

Continuing on with the fire I painted the top quarter of the flames with evil sunz scarlet.  The last part was to paint the very tips with German Grey.

Lastly I painted the concrete.

Quicksilver part 2

Next I painted the white. I used Ulthuan grey for this and applied it to his hair, boots, gloves and lightning motif. I went over this with Apothecary white.  I then highlighted it with white (actual white this time).

Next I tackled the explosion. First I painted the blast in Ulthuan grey. Next I gave it a couple of coats of Averland sunset. Then I moved on to orange. This was applied about halfway to 2/3 down each flame.

Quicksilver part 1

I started with the face. This was achieved with a base of Cadian fleshtone washed with reikland flesh. Then I went in with the Cadian fleshtone again on the raised areas, before putting a final line of Kislev flesh on the hard edges of the face.

Next I gave the suit a couple of coats of aethermatic blue contrast paint. One coat was just a bit too patchy.

The bricks were painted red, with the odd brick painted reddish brown.  The mortar was lined in in an ivory.  Then the wall was given 2 heavy washes of agrax earthshade.

The concrete was done in the same method as I’ve been doing throughout.

Toad part 2

To finish the yellow I washed it with cassendora yellow, then highlighted it with Yriel yellow.

Next I tackled his motley, gloves and boots. These were done in Xereus purple, which I highlighted with genestealer purple.

Next I moved on to his tongue.  This was done in screamer pink that was edge highlighted with squid pink by vallejo. The venom droplet on the end was done in warplanes glow contrast.

His hair is dryad bark highlighted with gorthor brown.

Toad part 1

I once again started with the skin. For this I used Cadian Fleshtone washed with Athonian camoshade to give it a slightly green hew. Once dry I drybrushed him with Cadian Fleshtone and then Kislev flesh.

Next I decided to tackle his clothes.  For these I based them with Averland sunset.

Mystique part 2

Next I applied Ulthuan grey to the dress, gloves, boots and lips.

Next I applied some flesh tearers red contrast to her hair and lips.

Next I gave the gun a coat of German Grey. This was highlighted with stormvermin fur, then washed with Nuln oil.

The dress, gloves and boots were given a coat of Space Wolves grey contrast.

The belt was painted stormvermin fur. The wee skulls on the belt and forehead with leadbelcher. The belt and skulls were given a light wash of Nuln Oil.

Next I painted up the X-men crest on the floor before finally doing the concrete.

I’m too much of a wimp to attempt her eyes.

Scarlet Witch part 2

So I tried out the Magos purple contrast paint on her legs and it looked patchy and well, just shite. I’ll have an official review of Magos purple at the end of this entry.

Instead I covered up the purple with Squid Pink from Vallejo. I gave this a light wash of Carroburg crimson, and then went in with the Squid pink again on the raised areas.

Next I did the spell effects. For this I used Volupus pink contrast (this one worked).

After that it was concrete time.

Now the review.

Scarlet Witch part 1

I figured the best place to start Wanda was with her face.  For this I based it in Cadian Fleshtone, which was washed with Reikland flesh shade before being highlighted with Cadian fleshtone and finally Kislev flesh on the extreme edges.

For her gloves, leotard, hat and boots I used flesh tearers contrast.

Her hair is dryad bark highlighted with gorthor brown.
