The worst possible method of thatching is going to be called “Margaret” and thrown into the bin 😉
she’s still not dead enough for me
“Still not dead enough” sounds like an awesome heavy metal album.
OTT road tour to dig her up and make sure she is extra dead! time for pay back for taking my milk.
Hopefully they buried her face down, so if she digs she goes deeper and not out. That’ll stop any potential Tory necromancers.
it’s a fear we all share.
To late the were undead when thatcher came to power.
Some good ideas there. I have a few 4Ground cottages which come with teddy bear fur. The most I’ve done with that is to paste some pva over it and give it a comb and a haircut (I trimmed the bottom, overhanging thatch back a little). Never thought of putting paint on as well.
I really like the look of the towels, it looks much more realistic. I might have to try this sometime.
let me start by saying, I just finished watching “The Greatest Movie ever Made”. now that being said, i come to ott, see the title of this at a glance, get excited because i see “three way”. Now i am running to get the Jergens, get back to the computer ready for a good time and then “thatching” isnt what i thought it meant, but the train was already leaving the station and I had my boarding pass. that being said thanks for the good time.
I would say the fur and the towel both look brilliant painted up Gerry.
Thats is a great Gerry Can @avernos and the towel also can be used for grass covering on tabletops and terrain boards.
Have you tried using the Coconut fibre mats for thatching?
Teddy Bear fur for the win!!!!!!!
you also have the added benefit of stalking and killing a Teddy Bear!
Great stuff, Gerry – thank you! I like the look of the teddy bear fur, but I suspect the towel is a more accurate look, as you say. The pre-soaking of the teddy bear fur is a very interesting step – I’ve not done this when painting fur for table size mats, but I wonder if this would help get the paint in to the material. However, for a mat I suppose I don’t want the fur to go stiff. Will have to experiment. Nice colours too ? (When you cut that towel did you here the tiny scream of… Read more »
wetting and combing is exactly how I do it when making fur mats to get the colour to penetrate, as long as you brush it through it won’t go stiff
Very cool. Will be using this soon. Cheers Gerry.
