Magical Miniature Game are now on Kickstarter with their immense new Fantasy adventure board game, Guardians Of Fire. Based on a series of comics, the game dives into a two-to-five player quest through mythological ancient Persia.

Within the game, you'll find yourself facing a choice between the Light and the Darkness. Do you join the angelic Ahura Mazda or do you embrace the darkness alongside Ahriman? The core game, Rise Of Darkness, challenges you to take on Angra Mainyu and stop the world from crumbling around you.
If you're interested in learning more about the gameplay of Guardians Of Fire then you can check out our Let's Play...

If you want to know even more then you can also download their work-in-progress Rulebook HERE. It's really cool to see a board game in this style that steps away from the traditional trappings of Western Fantasy. The focus on mythology and folklore from Ancient Persia is a welcome change and opens up the doors for people to do loads of additional reading on a part of history that many might not be familiar with!
Pledges & Expansions
If you're tempted to back the project then you can snap up a core box that comes packed with absolutely loads of content.
Core Box Contents // Guardians Of Fire
As you'll have noted, loads of different and interesting heroes as well as devilish fiends and minions for you to tackle! There is also loads of gorgeous art on the tiles and such which make me think a lot of Diablo II. The Dark Fantasy themes are strong with this one.
You can get a closer look at the miniatures and more soon but Gerry had a blast painting up the prototypes that we used in the Let's Play. There is also a wealth of detail worked into the fifty-hour campaign which has been made replayable too!
If fifty hours of campaign wasn't enough for you then you can also check out the City Of The Damned expansion which can be included with some pledges.
City Of The Damned Expansion // Guardians Of Fire
This includes badass werewolves into the mix (awesome) as well as a new hero for you to use against the deadly forces of darkness. With most, if not all, of the original characters being quite magically based it's cool to see a martial character enter the fray as well.
Backers of the campaign will also get access to a Kickstarter exclusive character in the form of Mardan. Who wouldn't want to summon a fiery lion?

PLUS, they are already unlocking Stretch Goals. The campaign has knocked through its relatively modest goal and is now seeking to add the likes of this fellow into the mix...
Tir Miniature // Guardians Of Fire
Bring the angelic badassery to the tabletop in fine form. This is just the first of many Stretch Goals which will include additional heroes and villains for you to face off against.
Make sure to drop your thoughts on Guardians Of Fire in the comments down below. Gerry has spent a while diving into it so he should be able to answer your questions if you have any.
Watch out for an interview with the designer of the game in a few weeks too!

Im sure these kickstarter boardgames keep getting bigger and bigger. Where do people keep these?
I’d say this is actually reasonably restrained in terms of content heh
Thats a fair point, I’m dreading the day Joan of Arc finally arrives.
I’ve only skimmed the lets play but it does look well put together, not really my cup of tea but I’ll be watching it and checking it out of interest.
Joan of Arc did already arrive, it’s just the 1.5 version that is still in development.
I backed the 1.5 version with the core set. May need a house extension.
From the little of the playthrough I saw last night I got a strong Shadows of Brimstone vibe. I’ve played a fair bit of Brimstone and love it, and if I didn’t have that on the go I’d be looking at this very closely.
Add in the minis – I have the Babylonian set from their previous venture on to Kickstarter and ohmygosh they’re nice.
this is looking to be a great game.
I would back this campaign but I backed the Mighty Lords Miniatures campaign run by Room 17 Games which, while unfulfilled and undelivered (and probably never going to be delivered at this point) blatantly featured many of the same sculpts that have reappeared in this one. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/room17games/mighty-lords-miniatures/description It would seem that Room 17 Games no longer have the rights to produce the miniatures (meaning they might have taken inspiration from the Maelstrom Games/Mierce Miniatures incident) which makes the whole Mighty Lords situation even murkier. Since this looks a little dubious to me I should probably just stay away. It does… Read more »
The general impression is that Room 17 tried to run too many projects at once, ran out of revenue/income stream, then got hit by the massive rise in the price of shipping containers and have a lot of products stuck in China.
That information could only be gleaned by a message from one of their backers on their Tenfold Dungeon campaign.
Their owner answered about mighty lords. Let me explain the situation, MMG is in no way affiliated with Room 17 Games or their campaigns. As a business, and even before MMG existed as a company, I (Iman) commissioned Room 17 Games to design a game based on my IP – Guardians of Fire. Their team of artists and designers created the illustrations and graphics that you can see in the product and we used the Action Prop Sys (TM) game mechanics as a basis for the game. Room 17 has designed many products for third parties (their last one previous… Read more »
I backed their previous campaign and they delivered some terrific minis. Yes this is considerably more ambitious but they do have a reference from me.
I genuinely hope that everything goes well for Magical Miniature Game and their Guardians of Fire project. I just don’t feel comfortable backing it right now.
I’m going to support them, too many people insulted them for no reason, they kept calm and responded to them with dignity.
