Get Ready For The Edgewalk With A Cyntopia How To Play
October 18, 2014 by brennon
Cyntopia isn't far off launching on Kickstarter now after a short delay and with that the creators have put together a mini How To Play video which you can watch above describing some of the basic mechanics of the game.
The game is sounding and indeed looking great with a lot of effort going into making this a really in-depth Cyberpunk experience that makes you feel like you're not invested in your characters and each Edgewalk (mission) you undertake. Give the video above a watch and see what you think at this early stage; essentially a neat primer for the Kickstarter release.
If you'd like to know more about the game you can check out our Exclusive Preview where we go into a bit more depth about the game.
Are you waiting for this one to hit?

I’m assuming there is more to it than “roll an unmodified D6 vs the GM” because that mechanic will get old fairly quickly. Course if there IS more to it, it makes the video totally pointless because “roll dice to resolve tasks” is hardly a resolution mechanic revolutionary enough to require making a video about.
As long as I’m nitpicking, I kinda hope they rethink the neon-green hex grid over the terrain, It looks awful and obscures the artwork. Otherwise it looks good and I’m definitely interested in the game.
Edgewalker zethnar, thank you for your feedback.
In fact, there is more to it than “roll an unmodified D6 vs the GM” in the full rulebook. The rulebook features more rpg-elements and optional rules for everyone to choose from. At the moment the video should just show the coremechanics.
The hex-grid was already changed (the material in the video is alpha prototype) and we’ve listened to our Edgewalkers.
I don’t mean to be negative about the game, I’m actually really interested in finding out more about it.
Don’t worry about it, you’re feedback didn’t seemed negativ.
Furthermore it is good to receive any kind of feedback, so that we can improve the game together with your help.
The Kickstarter will start soon and there will be more information availbe at the start of it and during we’ll post more mechanics too.
I have a question, if I may. When the area had been cleared, the players tried to hack the door to reveal the next room. Had the player failed the roll, what would happen? Do they keep trying until they succeed? That would seem slightly pointless unless games are timed or limited to a fixed number of turns
Of course you may ask questions, thats what I’m here for.
There a various options, which can happen if the player doesn’t opens the door at the first try, they’ll be explained in the full rulebook – for example he can trigger an active or silent alarm, jam the door, etc.
Ok, that sounds cool. So there’s consequences to failing the hack roll but it doesn’t necessarily halt the game.
For the record, I’m really looking forward to your Kickstarter
Everything in life has consequences and we wanted to implay that in this game too.
Glad to hear that Edgewalker onlyonepinman, expect information about the Kickstarter soon here on Beasts of War.
