UK Games Expo Intending To Run 2021 Event As Planned

The UK Games Expo has announced they are still intending to run the event for 2021 from Friday 30th July - Sunday 1st August 2021.

Despite the delay in opening up fully due to the announcement by the UK government this week, the UK Games Expo is still on track to run at the end of July. This is ALL still in accordance with current government guidance.
With this in mind, there is a change to the way that you get involved with the event. As before, you will (currently) need to produce a negative lateral flow test but it can be done via a home kit rather than at a test centre. See the infographic below for all the information.
A test will be required before each day but they are incredibly easy to do and take no time at all to show a result. We are going to be there with a team covering the event so make sure to say hi to us if you see us wandering around the hall and doing interviews!

Hope it all goes okay. I hope to visit in 2022. Personally i’m glad to get back to more normality but not intending to visit anywhere crowded this year.

Nothing on the website says what the “Reduced capacity in line with current Public Health England guidelines.” actually means. How many tickets are for sale? How many people are going to be allowed in the venue at any given time?
Did they say that at the last event they had over 30 thousand people through the doors over the 3 days?
10 thousand people a day seems a lot under the current circumstances.
Yeah, I think I will hang fire until 2022 and see what happens, although at current rate that might be optimistic!
I could make a more informed decision about attending if they published more details including their full risk assessment. The ‘play with confidence’ page doesn’t really tell me anything useful. Too vague. Having attended in the past these are large halls but with poor air circulation. How the filters will work in practice I have no idea.
I think I’ll give it a miss this year and go next year.
