In this tutorial, John shows off a great way to paint up your Sherman Firefly and add that little extra detail in there too. Weathering can really change the final look and feel of a miniature!
How do you approach painting your World War II miniatures?
Nice one John looks very realistic scruffy looking.
Not a great tank but when deployed correctly it was highly effective
Great tutorial @johnlyons, I’m nearly at the point of adding decals to my 15mm AVRE ‘Spring Clean Challenge’ project and use micro sol and micro set to bed them down. I also find using tweezers and a small brush helps to get them off the backing paper and to where you need them without the risk of tearing them with a blade.
TANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
great job John 🙂
wouldn’t a white acrylic pen be a viable way to get that effect on the Barrel? Just curious when you used them with the camo they seems really handy.
Yes indeed! However, this was filmed before I had any paint pens. But that’s how i’d do it going forward 😀
Hi thanks for a really nice tutorial. I’ve been following the steps for my own Fireflys and they are starting to look great.
Just a final step question. Do you think it would be wise to apply some matt varnish to seal everything off as a last step? Or would it alter the look of the final pigment step too much?
