I have been finding it hard to finish the Thorns of the Briar Queen. But I finally got around to finishing two of the miniatures, specifically The Everhanged and one of the chainrasps.

I really wanted to achieve a dirty metal effect on the chains and swords.  In the end Agrax Earthshade and Typhus Corrosion was the secret.

Leather (for the corset and sword handles)

Base the leather with a 50/50 mixture of Citadel Doombull Brown and Citadel Gorthor Brown.

Wash with Citadel Agrax Earthshade before layering back up with the previous mixture.

Dirty Gold

Base the sword handles and anything else you want to be a dirty gold with Citadel Balthasar Gold.

Wash with Citadel Agrax Earthshade before highlighting with Citadel Gehenna’s Gold.  For the highlight don’t go overboard. Just pick out the sharpest points.

Dirty/Worn Metal

Base the metal bits with several thin coats of Citadel Leadbelcher.

Coat the entire sword and random recesses with Citadel Typhus Corrosion.

Wash the metal with Citadel Agrax Earthshade.

Once the wash is dry highlight the sword, chains and rest of the metal bits with Citadel Ironbreaker.  This is the key as it really helps show the stark difference between the rusted and corroded bits and the exposed metal.
