The Germans Get a Plastic Panzer IV for Bolt Action
October 13, 2014 by dracs
Warlord have released the backbone of the German armoured forces for Bolt Action as a new plastic kit, so you tank commanders can now field the Panzer IV Ausf.H.
According to Warlord, this set lets you build three variants of the Panzer IV tank:
- The short-barrelled Ausf. F1.
- The long-barrelled Ausf. G with its distinctive ball muzzle brake. Respectfully known by British forces in the desert campaign as the ‘Mark 4 Special’ it saw action in the Western Desert and the Russian Front primarily.
- The Ausf H with its new muzzle brake and protective schürzen side skirts. A regular sight on late war battlefields, the Ausf H is one of the iconic Panzers of the war.
- Warlord Games
Warlord's plastic kits accurately recreate these real world war vehicles. This new plastic tank certainly looks as though it captures a lot of the fine detail and the variants available in the kit make this a very versatile model.
What can you tell us about the Panzer IV? Do you like the Bolt Action tank models?
My favorite WW2 tank looks good as BA model.
Thinking of getting the Normandy starter set plus a Sherman and one of the plastic German tanks. Would I be best off with the Panzer IV or the Panther?
I don’t know how BA does it, but those two tanks had very different capabilities. Unless you’ve got your heart set on one tank over the other, I would imagine the Panzer IV would be more of an even match than a Panther, which should dominate a lone Sherman. But having not played the BA tank rules, I could be wrong.
An even match is something I would be looking for to play some demo games with the 2 armies so I guess its the Panzer IV. Not actually played BA yet so not sure on how the tanks compare to each other just yet.
Love the camouflage paint scheme & the tank.
Great looking tank – just a suggestion to Warlord: another Tank War set with Panzer IV versus T34/85.
