The days of Castle Panic... Collectively on Games Night training up our defence and honouring the castle's walls to stop incoming attack. If you are as nostalgic about Castle Panic as I am, you will be delighted to know that the Deluxe Edition is up on Kickstarter.

Fireside Games brings fresh artwork, all expansions included and brand new and upgraded components to the campaign. Bringing one of my favourite classic board-game-night adventures into 2021.

If you have never played Castle Panic, the concept is simple. As a team of heroes, you will be provided with the mission to protect the castle from an approaching hoard attempting nothing short of chaos and havoc to the fantasy realm. Castle Panic is a cooperative game for 1-6 players, where players use cards to slay monsters as they approach from the forest and begin to make way up to the castle walls.

But, the new deluxe edition adds some finesse to game. With brand new miniatures which include the approaching monsters, and the high gates of the castle walls. Defending a castle in a board game has never been so immersive.

But that is not the only thing that has had an upgrade in Castle Panic, brand new and refreshed artwork brings the game brand new life, and component additions are present throughout. New Monster tokens, new game mechanics, miniatures and more!

Not feeling the need to play competitively? There are four different game modes available in Castle Panic Deluxe Edition. Solitarie Mode if you want to take on a whole army of monsters solo, Cooperative Mode to team up to protect the castle, Master Slayer Mode compares to Legolas and Gimli at Helm's Deep keeping count of their enemies to equate to a winner and finally, Overlord Mode where one player can control the hoard of monsters against the players in the castle.

Fireside Games have announced that there will be no stretch goals as part of this campaign, due to the fact that they have made the very best version of Castle Panic already. If they were to do any - they have already included them as part of the pledges so nobody misses out!

There are a few different pledge levels depending on how much you would like to dip into the new edition. The Wood Edition provides players with the new base game with castle pieces and monster tokens for an all-round experience. However, if you wanted to look further into the expansions available that have also been rehashed, or just wanted to buy the miniatures - there are options for all gamers new and veteran for Castle Panic.

The Kickstarter Campaign has 13 days left to go, so even if you are not looking to pick up a whole new base game. If you were a fan of the original version of Castle Panic, you may want to check out the add-ons and upgrades to enhance your own game.
