If you missed your chance in getting your hands on the Horizon Zero Dawn: Board Game on Kickstarter, you now have your chance to head on over to the Hunters Lodge, taking down the fearsome hi-tech enemies that dwell in the post-apocalyptic world.
The Kickstarter was an overwhelming success, as players take the role of a Hunter, similar to the main protagonist of the Horizon Zero Dawn video game, Aloy. Players will set off in a semi-cooperative experience as they engage in missions assigned by the Hunter's Lodge.

Immerse yourself in one of four tribes to reign champion against mechanical beasts, each with individual weapons, skills and a fighting style to ensure the mission is complete. Take the role of Nora, the bow and spear-wielding marksman, Carja the fragile damage dealer, Oseram the Forgesmith and Stoic or Banuk, the skilful mystical Hunter.

The game combines exploration with strategic deck-building which promotes a high replayability factor making each game individually unique. Players will be able to upgrade their characters, utilise merchants and take them on a journey that is true to life of the video game.
There were a few different expansions available on Kickstarter which do not seem to be on sale anywhere just yet, but you can expect the Sacred Land Expansion, The Lawless Badlands Expansion, The War Chief's Trail Expansion, Forge and Hammer Expansion, Into the Borderlands Expansion, and Soldiers of the Sun Expansion to have some influence in by coming to retailers at some point, or something of similarity - with lots of content already planned out.
The game can be purchased from Steamforged Games' website now, so if you missed your chance pledging for the Kickstarter - you now have the opportunity to enrol yourself into the Hunters' Lodge.

“What is your favourite tabletop game based on a video game?” Doom!
The board game based on the Greatest Movie ever Made.
But how would that work…. co-op? Solo? competitive?
all of the above sir all of the above. it does everything even laundry
This could result in some interesting miniatures.
This seems to be another KS game with great plastic toys and lackluster game play according to the reviews. Such a shame.
Can’t say I wasn’t expecting anything else to be honest.
That’s not just a kickstarter problem though … it is a ‘problem’ that has plagued the boardgame business since the dawn of time. Thousands of games get made … and only a few manage to hit that perfect combo of mechanics, timing and theme allowing them to endure time.
Then again … do all games need to be (near) perfect 9/10 review ratings ?
Can’t we have games that are merely ‘good enough’ … a 6/10 at best ?
When I am expected to pay £90 then I expect a good game, not just nice toys.
the game figures do look good.
Is this Renegade or Steamforged?
That has been corrected now
So because their seems to be some interest in the miniatures. I just want to let people know that the scale is not 28mm. It is more like 26mm, its close… but not close enough. Surprisingly, Steamforged Games doesn’t understand how scale works. Which is rather odd, but there it is. Now I know that scale isn’t a perfect science, and there are some opinions on what 28mm means. However, SFG opinion during the kickstarter was just insane. In a nut shell, the count the base as part of the model. So they measured from the top of the head/hat… Read more »
As good as Horizon Zero Dawn was it is one that I find difficult to see done as a board game. I dont mean that as a negative but as being curious how they translated the video game into a board game.
