Build A Gothic Mansion With Mantic’s TerrainCrate Sets
May 18, 2021 by brennon
Mantic Games has got a load of new TerrainCrate sets for you to pre-order ahead of their release on the 24th May. You can get the guts of a terrifying Fantasy Gothic Manor that could equally be the site of a horrific Pulp adventure packed with zombies too!
Gothic Manor // Mantic Games
At the core of the release is the Gothic Manor set itself which seems like a fitting place for a vampire to call home. It comes with a lot of different pieces, thirty-five to be exact. This collection that you see above isn't even going to put a dent in what you get.
All of the terrain from the TerrainCreate series is unpainted plastic when it comes out of the box but it is pretty much ready to use if you just want to dump it down into a dungeon-crawler setting. I think this is some of the best stuff Mantic has made in the last few years, especially if you're a terrain fiend like Lloyd or Warren.
Graveyards & Twisted Forests
As well as the interior of the Gothic Manor, you can also design up the land outside it too. What manor would be complete without the addition of a spooky Graveyard...

...or perhaps a twisted and inviting forest set amongst the Gothic Grounds?
Gothic Grounds // Mantic Games
The Graveyard set comes with eighteen additional plastic pieces which can be used to make a terrifying showdown with the undead whilst Gothic Grounds offers up ten pieces, most of which you can see in the image above. I like that you could get these painted up pretty quickly with a big brush and have them ready to go sharpish. I do occasionally like painting terrain...just not often.
Exploring The Gothic Manor
You might also find yourself taking refuge deep within the bowels of the manor. If so, you might find yourself wandering through the halls and rooms as you explore the Servant's Quarters!

This could also be a good excuse to venture down to the Bathroom & Kitchen in search of supplies or just somewhere to hole up away from the ghosts.

The folks at Mantic really have thought of everything when it comes to what you might need in your haunted abode. I like the idea that you could paint these up as brand spanking new pieces as you see here or make them dirty and horrible, ruined by time. I want to splash rust and rot over everything!
Are you liking this new bundle of terrain from the folks at Mantic Games?

Fabulous looking terrain scenery to game with.
After multiple different Kickstarters, Mantic may have the widest selection of 28mm plastic terrain of anyone right now. From fantasy to sci-fi to modern, there really is something for whatever era you game in. Not everyone is a huge fan of the soft plastics (which often need the hot water treatment to cure the bends) and sometimes the prices are a little excessive, but there’s no doubting the options across all of the ranges.
I do have (not painted) all the 1930`s terrain, which i like to use for mansions of madness one day… few bits too to use on the rare hard to find very old game “cursed city” 🙂
amazing stuff if only I had not already replace all my furiture with the stuff from Heroquest in the late 1980’s I would be all over this
I really dig mantic’s terrain crate series. I have 3 sets of the dungeon saga terrain, some of the fantasy range and was a late backer on there latest modern kickstarter. It’s fantastic stuff to make your table come to life for a decent price. This particular set just isn’t something I need, but it looks great and I’m sure to buy mre in the future.
Nice looking terrain pieces.
I cannot recall which company it is, but there is one that do a Peter Cushing as Van Helsing and a Christopher Lee as Dracula mini, get those two drop them right into the middle of that Gothic mansion set and recreate the end of Horror of Dracula.
Job Done.
Wargames Illustrated have a limited VanHelsing based on Cushing which is lovely, no Count mind you but he is probably the easier one to source
Wargames was the one I was thinking of! Didn’t realise they didn’t do a Drac. But yeah their Cushing is spot on.
I agree @brennon, some of the nicest stuff Mantic has done. Also quick and fun to paint. I do recommend a good scrubbing with diluted dish soap to remove residual mold release but after they dry they don’t really need primer.
Something I will be picking up for both my walking dead and fallout interiors
I went all in on the kickstarter for this one and here in a month when I finally get moved into my new house I’m going to get to unpack and paint all this goodness for my Walking Dead stuff. So excited for it.
Very impressive!
