Would you care to scribe a couple of words on the method used on those three?
Thanks! Exactly the same method as in the previous step by step, except here I gave them a more traditional black oil wash after the original layers had dried. Once I’d done the original paint & wipe & blend with white, they were too light and colourful and I really wanted them darker. So went for the oil wash. I wouldn’t plan to do that in future, I’d try to do a better job of getting them dark in the first place. Ideally I want to paint them in one session otherwise I might as well be using acrylics! I need to buy some terra rosa – Wappel seams to be useing it all the time, and your results also look cool.
Yeah, it’s definitely worth paying attention to the paints he uses as there’s been a lot of trial and error in working out which ones are decent for miniatures. Surprise surprise the Kamikaze Orphans are 90% Egyptian Violet ?
I haven’t had a moment of doubt about that!
