STALINGRAD Bolt Action Mega Battle!
Czech Hedgehogs on the 'Eastern Front'!
After seeing an image of a female engineer preparing anti tank defences at Stalingrad, I decided that my ‘Mega Battle’ would not be complete without them! The ability to set up road blocks and keep back armoured and mech assaults in key areas will be critical in some of my forthcoming games.
I managed to order a kit of suitably scaled examples from 4ground:

It was a quick fun kit to put together, and importantly it will take paint. As painting is a big part of my hobby, this was a real bonus. Naturally I chose to use the basing rubble and sand to tie it in with the other scenery and miniature bases that theme this part of my miniature collection.
It also gave me the fun task of using rust pigment powders to give a heavily weathered effect.
I did these 4 over the coarse of a day, and I will be buying more fore Stalingrad and other great battles. The most obvious one would be D-Day with sand and water effects, but also fall of Berlin with rubble brick bases.
Scatter terrain like this has an obvious effect on the game and how it is played out, with the added benefit that it adds a level of detail and believability to the tabletop.
