Kragnos Storms Into Age Of Sigmar! The Biggest Monster To Date?!
May 4, 2021 by brennon
Games Workshop has started off their Warhammer Fest 2021 extravaganza with quite the reveal for Warhammer Age Of Sigmar. Kragnos, the God Of Earthquakes, is storming his way into The Mortal Realms soon as part of the final Broken Realms book.

Games Workshop has been making bigger and bigger miniatures for a while now but Kragnos takes the biscuit. This fellow is absolutely towering (as you'll see later) and stands head and shoulders above the Destruction armies that he can command on the tabletop.
When this popped up yesterday in their reveal I was actually blown away. I thought we were getting some Kurnothi lord akin to Orion. Oh, how wrong I was. Kragnos was one of the old races that dominated The Mortal Realms back during the Age Of Myth. He was imprisoned by Lord Kroak but now he has broken free of his mountain tomb and is looking to get revenge on everyone, not just the Seraphon.

Armed with powerful relics of the past, Kragnos is a pretty unstoppable killing machine. Rocking a bucket of wounds, a 2+ save and rules that give him access to many ways to cause mortal wounds, this fellow is going to be a massive points sink but he will look impressive whilst kicking ass.
The rules presented in the fourth and final Broken Realms book allow him to be taken as a leader for any Destruction force. Yes, that means Sons Of Behemat, Ironjaws, Gloomspite Gitz...everyone.

As you can tell from the image above, he is utterly terrifying! I can't wait to see what painters do with him and the dioramas that we see with him at the centre.

Going back to the new Broken Realms book for a moment, as you might have guessed, this is going to cause some ripples in the power structure of The Mortal Realms.

With Teclis having kicked Nagash's arse and Be'lakor shifting the balance of power once more, the stage looks set for an interesting climax. The Soul Wars might be coming to an end but I get the sense that Sigmar and the pantheon or Order are going to have many more problems to deal with.
Are you impressed with the big boi Kragnos? As I mentioned above, I really like the "miniature" and found myself planning out a cool World Of Warcraft-style Orruk force with him at the forefront.
Are you going to be snapping up Kragnos?

The face is a bit strange but the rest is ok.
Would have liked it more if he was the leader of a new centaur like race instead just one very big model.
Just do that then.
Interesting. I dont know if I like it or not the face is well odd I just dont like it all but the rest of the model is fine. I am also slight disappointed it is a one off model and that we wont see a sub faction of centaurs. It is odd we have a whole book around one model you just can take as an extra choice.
There is more in the book beyond Kragnos. You’ll also have new rules for Seraphon, Cities Of Sigmar and Sylvaneth in there, matched up with the miniatures we’ve been seeing over the past few weeks.
I like the model but was thinking I don’t need it or the book as it does nothing for any of the armies that I run. But you had to go and point out that the book has new rules for Cities of Sigmar and others so now if I get the book I might as well pickup the model too!
Dang GW is good at this $hit! 🙁
Lovely model but I can’t understand the drive to keep making things bigger.
This is my thought exactly.
Probably to make showcase models and sell them at a higher price.
the profit margins are massive, it was the only reason they were introduced into fantasy in the first place.
The board saw what they were making off tank kits in 40K and instructed the design team to do it for fantasy, Rick talks about it in the miniatures wargaming movie.
Interesting….
no better example of pointless big guys being added to a faction than the cow / bull / mountain creatures bolted onto the high elves – purely just to make money.
Cause it draws the eyes in the shop window, and also same amount of sprues usually as a generic kit but can sell it for 3/4 times the price. Less effort.
I’m was hoping for something better to back him up – a new faction for him to lead rather than you can fold him into other Destruction armies. It feels a bit half-aased.
(Ok ok ok I was hoping he’d be the big shiny to herald revised Chaos Dwarfs.)
Very nice looking miniature.
I really like the savage fury look of this model. It looks really freaking awesome as a model.
As tabletop element, I absolutely hate the idea of titan models on the tabletop. They do not move around strategically. They always feel like huge blunt objects that kind of jump across the table in huge leaps. Just hate the way they make the game feel and look.
Once again, super tall miniature, lets make him even taller/bigger with some “rocks” to stand on.
Honestly, I guess its easier to sell one $200+ model then three or four boxes of Infantry.
A great looking intimidating figure to field on the table.
My interest in GW models is always quashed by the price these days. I print most everything anyway.
The book should be named :
Kragnos Unfurred !
Give it time and there’ll be fanfic called that
Kragnos God of the Furries….
Ewwwwwww! XD
Is it just the paint job or does Kragnos actually look like a toy? I’m not seeing the effort put into other larger releases.
I quite like him, a little too large could be 25% smaller.
Take away the stupidly large rocks that probably have 3 sprues of their own and might look a lot different.
The scary part is that the large “army” photo probably contains about £1000 worth (RRP) of miniatures….eeeeek
While I normally like big minis and dioramas, this guy really should have been toned down and made a LOT smaller. He is big and impressive, but he’s way too cumbersome and looks like he’d be a nightmare to play with outside of a 1000+ point game. Now if they scaled him down to the size of a normal giant and put all four hooves on the ground, maybe toned down the amount of trinkets, then he could be a viable mini.
