About the Project
I might as well jump on the bandwagon with this billion suns lark... especially as @avernos is so good at explaining to people the scale of models they should use.

Yes its another Star War project from Collins...
Yes so ok, I like Star Wars, I get it, you get it, we all get it…
Before my old windows machine packed up I was able to get a number of ships sliced and printed off. sadly, until I replace (or fix) the 13 year old windows machine I won’t be adding to this fleet via the medium of 3D printing.
I enjoyed all @avernos rantings on the Unofficial Hobby Hangout about scale of ships that I decided to go and scale everything that was a capital ship to each other.
I elected to take a Nebulon-B frigate and say ‘I want it 6cm in length on the tabletop because reasons’ and then went to wookieepedia and discovered the ‘real world’ sizes of each ship.
After some back of the napkin maths I had the scales worked out and all I needed to do was alter the length of the free 3D files from thingiverse to suit the length I had decided on.
What I have got here is
- 2 Dreadnaught Class Heavy Cruisers
- 1 Quasar Class Carrier
- 2 Pelta Class Transport Cruisers
- 2 Nebulon B Class Frigates
- 6 Corellian Corvettes
Everything is printed and from stl files on thingiverse
Start with the Carrier... how else will the starfighters get there!?!
Sprayed Halfords grey primer
pin washed with nuln oil
edged with administratum grey
airbrush was white then yriel yellow
the base was whitelined with palid witch flesh
Dreadnaught Heavy Cruiser anyone?
So many panel lines….
I mean it looks cool and i’m happy with the result but in all honesty that counted as a mission for me…
Double down on the big grey dildo
I went searching for Star Wars themed paint schemes on ships, specifically the Dreadnaughts. turns out that Garm Bel-Iblis had a specific scheme on one of his 6 Katana Fleet Dreadnaughts. I decided to copy it but upped the brightness of the green to make it more poppy.
Medical Frigates
Can someone tell me how I can better highlight Grey Seer as doing it with a flat white is just too bright for me I think and using Administratum Grey over the nuln oil just doesn’t pop as much as I want.
Im thinking I should go back to the Halfords grey primer as it looks good
All wings report in....
using the same colour palettes as before I cracked on with the fighter groups. managed to knock them out in a few hours. its mostly just having a careful and steady hand, pin washing in the shadows too.
these came from Star Wars Armada by fantasy flight games. they were in my opinion the best option to go for in this instance. 3D printing was going to be a faff and if I ever go to sell the fleet these FFG models are actually hard to get hold of and painted ones go for some reasonable money.
