it feels more like trying to interrupt a group of people in the middle of a conversation.

That is a good point @wurzzel though I think thats actually how most of the conversation on there flows and i dont think anyone actually minds the interuption. But it can be offputting or a bit unnerving.

Though the more topic focused chat rooms generally have a bit slower pace and more focus.
