Part of my love of forums is their searchability.

Often I’ll search for something I was interested in a while back, and I’ll bump into an old thread in a forum I joined in with – sometimes ten years or more ago. Sure, sometimes “old me” cringes a bit when he sees what “young me” had to say (though in all honesty, it’s usually due to my technology preferences or opinions on JQuery libraries or something) but sometimes it’s nice to go “aha, I remember this….” (or, more worryingly, reading your own replies thinking “I have no idea this ever happened”).

While performance is important, functionality is critical for me. The current OTT forums are a bit lacking in organisation and searchability. I’d love the idea of more integration too – although, in theory, at lot of things on this site are linked, it does tend to be a bit clunky (and ending up on someone else’s “profile activity” page – either by accident or design – can be quite bewildering!)
