Award Winning Board Game Keyper Gets Expansion With Keyper At Sea
April 29, 2021 by fcostin
Keyper by R&D Games was out a few years back in 2017, filled with fun for two to four players as they all cooperate and compete within their village throughout each season of the year. In 2019, Ben had his eyes on the upcoming expansion, and it is now up on Kickstarter now smashing through the initial target. Where players take to the opportunities of both the shallows and the depths of the sea in Keyper at Sea.

Heading over to the sea provides players with two different options to play the game, in 'Shallow Water' or in 'Deep Water'. For newer players, they may want to start out in the shallows, as the deep water version of the game adds more challenges and will certainly be a fun and fantastic experience for previous players of Keyper.
Even better, playing Keyper at Sea doesn't require you to have the base game either. Although you can embark on the whimsical seas with your Keyper, R&D Games have now made it so that the base game is also available on the Kickstarter campaign too.

The Kickstarter also includes the ability to play both the base game Keyper and Keyper at Sea with a solo ruleset. As initially, the game would be set up for 2-4 players, each with an individual colour meeple entitled the player's 'Keyper'. I am really excited to see how this worker placement not only adds solo rules for the new expansion, but it will allow me to revisit this good ol' worker placement game and breathe new life into it by going on my own personal adventure.

Along with a brand new game adventure out on the seas, there are also lots of new components to come along with Keyper at Sea, including a brand new board to take your Keyper out on to the water, and introducing the fish market. Along with new fishy tokens, tiles, season markers, sea creatures and treasures to seek.
The Kickstarter has 12 days left to go and is of popular demand, so if you were a fan of the original worker-placement game Keyper, you may want to take a look at the new expansion heading out to the seas.
And expansion without requiring the base game? What next?!
