you guys got a bargain… this same set was £89.99
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Railcar-Train-Steam-Model-Locomotive/dp/B004MLVG60/ref=sr_1_1?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1412716446&sr=1-1
I think that justifies this tutorial.
(He says with a mixture of smugness and relief! lol)
That was a very funny & interesting video can’t what for the next instalment. I can see lots of miffed kids not getting a train set at Xmass / birthday because all the gamers have nabbed them all. LOL
I’m a model railroader in N scale(1/160) and HOn3(1/87)the ‘n’ stands for narrow gauge, or 3′ gauge) and through the years have always looked for ways to combine my two hobby loves. I’ve gamed for a long time in 10mm which matches great with N scale, unfortunately my Napoleonic armies don’t mix well with trains, and 20mm matches well with HO but I’ve never gamed in 20. So my two hobbies have remained separate. It was when I started gaming WW2 in 28mm that I thought I would pick up some track and make some railroad terrain features. O scale… Read more »
There’s also TT gauge/scale for 15mm if you can get it.
I’m in the process of starting my own Bolt action board and these tutorials gives me alot of inspiration and energy.
Keep em comming.
Even the spray can sound like a locomotive ! lol 32.01 min
Great video, also nice to make a track for mine carts in my dwarf hold
YEAH! I thought that also when I watched the video.
6mm is epic scale… strange you missed that… ofcourse, you’re not allowed to play that since it’s been discontinued, you should buy Apocalypse instead.
If anything, the cars look small. I worked at a cargo terminal when I was younger and I actually write software for that railway industry these days.
A normal cargo car floor level is 4 feet off the ground and it’s nearly 10 feet wide.
That said, I don’t think you can use the same scale for everything anyway — that way lies madness.

I’d be more inclined to use PVA than superglue. Also, I wouldnt bother with the demel part, as tracks actually sit on top of the sleepers anyway, though cables ties would obviously be too big then. As a former LNER modeller in OO guage, this has given me too many terrain ideas. Many thanks or not thanks, haha!
The plastic zip tie would sit too high and not have enough support.
Pva is ok but doesn’t act quickly enough for tutorial purposes unfortunately.
Run a pencil line down the top of the sleepers before using the dremel, it will be easier to cut on the line.
Yup that’s a possibility, but if your using the template it’s not really needed 🙂
I remember I had a load of lego trains years ago. All gone now. (Somebody gave them away) Anyway, just wondering if they would be a suitable scale. Don’t think so though.
I found the boys train set on pound stretcher.co.uk website for£14.99 as Warren said. So if you are in UK and spend £20+ it’s free delivery as well so got a storage box for all my Battlesystems stuff.
Another possible source of locomotives and carriages for 28mm – Teamsterz do a small range of toy trains in a nominal 1@55 scale. There are two styles of packaging – one with just the engine, the other with an engine and a carriage. If you can find the latter, you can either get a pack with a tank engine and a passenger carriage, or a larger locomotive and a coal tender carriage. They’re designed to run on the floor, so won’t fit neatly onto any track, but I’ve used them on both OO track and the Fenfa tracks by bodging… Read more »
as someone said earlier here is the set
http://www.poundstretcher.co.uk/super-size-train-set.html
going to get some tomorrow, maybe 2? think it would be cool for WWX, malifaux, maybe warmachine? just need to find a way to weather it
Good man – Poundstretcher’s webmasters will be wondering tomorrow who exactly Beasts of War are, and why they’re getting so many click throughs coming from them 🙂
Cool stuff, guys! 🙂
Damn you pound stretcher, out of stock online. I guess there may still be some in the shops though.
‘Trains are really hard to find’ I beg to differ:
