Choose Dark Age Saxons Or Normans With 1066 Kickstarter
April 26, 2021 by brennon
Bob Murch of Crucible Crush is now on Kickstarter with their Dark Age Anglo-Saxon and Norman Kickstarter focused around the events of 1066. You are able to snap up two full 28mm armies of metal miniatures for use in the struggle for control of England.
1066 // Crucible Crush
There are options, as we've hinted to in previous articles, for both the Anglo-Saxons and Normans. The Saxons are led by King Harold Godwinson who comes mounted as you can see here as well as on on-foot and dressed for a moot.

You'll also be able to pick up his foe and the future King Of England, Duke William Of Normandy or "William The Bastard" if you're so inclined!
Duke William Of Normandy // Crucible Crush
As with the miniature for Godwinson, you have the option to have him mounted on his horse or on foot, commanding the troops from the ground. Godwinson can be accompanied by a band of command figures which could easily be designed to be his sons. William also comes with the option of riding into battle alongside the brutal Bishop Odo Of Bayeux.
There are then two FULL armies of metal miniatures for you to pick up and use during your games. This means masses of spearmen, archers crossbowmen, cavalry and more for the two forces.
Armoured Saxon Spearmen // Crucible Crush
When it comes to the two different forces there are some distinct differences. The Saxons get to draw on more regular soldiers with unarmoured and armoured versions of their spearmen plus the levy that they have raised from the fields. This also means plenty of folks armed with slings and bows. There are also some more skirmish-based mounted riders for you to use as scouts.
On the Norman side of things, we have crossbowmen and cavalry units which set them apart from the defending Saxons.

If you're interested in the full collection of miniatures that you can pick up from this campaign then you can dive in and check out the links above. There is a lot for you to snap up and you could use them to build a big ranked up army or a skirmishing warband.
1066 Stretch Goals
As well as picking up the core of your army, you can also check out some of the Stretch Goals that are getting unlocked as part of this campaign.

More poor peasants are getting added into the mix which can be used for objective-based games. You've also got those High Born Ladies for the Saxons and Normans who could sit at the back of your army, watching the action unfold. I like the idea of painting them up as a bit of a palette cleanser after all that armour!
Are you tempted to dive in and pick up these miniatures for your Dark Age games?
