April 23, 2021 by fcostin
Hidden Leaders is the newest game from BFF Games up on Kickstarter and players will be getting stuck into some civil warfare to restore order and prosperity. The island empire of Ostra is in peril, and 2-6 players will need to put their social deduction skills to the test, to secretly compete to restore balance from the wrath of civil war.

The Emporer has left his throne, and the control of Ostra is to be determined, crowning one of his six children to take his place. Each child has their own strength and rationale and instead of sitting down with a cuppa, they have decided to engage in an all-out civil war to their home island, each given the backup of two factions to help them reign victorious.

The upcoming game from indie studio, BFF games puts the player in the position of one of the fighting children attempting to earn the kingdom for their own. Featuring 70 unique characters within the troops available to help defend the player's might are the Imperial Loyalists, Tribes from the Hills, the peaceful Waterfolk and the army of the Undead.
The game is quite literally a battle between players and their opponents. From start to finish, players will need to progress through the war by drawing cards to influence the power struggle, leading to one of the four factions becoming victorious by pushing the outcome of the battle on the board.
Hidden Leaders // BFF Games
Players will need to think tactically and strategically when using their cards in battle, as this tug-of-war game will pull players up and down the board ultimately defining who will take control of the land. Players can even trade and steal their opponent's cards to make things even more tense. But it will be in your favour to keep your cards secret and away from the gaze of your opponent's, as you do not want them to anticipate your next move and ultimately, your hero's mission.

The player's opponent will anticipate where you want to be if you are concentrating on keeping your hero in the same spot, so social deduction skills are going to need to be present to ensure that your hero comes out on top.
The stretch goals that are available are some really nice additions such as more hero cards. But, regardless that the campaign has already smashed through the initial target, there are still more upgrades available through the stretch goals that become achieved.
The Kickstarter certainly doesn't break the bank either, allowing players to pick up a box for as little as £18, or if you really do want to play and not worry about any of the additional items or stretch goals - you can print and play for £1!
The campaign has 21 days left, running up until May 14th.
