I have noticed that for some reason, updates to my Star Saga project do not get showcased in the newsfeed on the OTT landing page.  It doesn’t matter how many updates I post or when I post them it’s simply not being showcased.  I posted two updates last night and they didn’t appear, I checked again this morning and they weren’t present despite other projects with both newer and older updates appearing.  When you look at the projects home page, it was (at the time of checking) the 4th most recently updated project.

Recent Projects feed on the OTT landing page

    SC1

    Projects Landing Page

    SC2

As you can see all of the projects on the project landing page appear in the news feed except my Star Saga project.  I noticed that this started happening quite some time ago and I have no idea as to why.  When I first started the project it would appear every time I added a new update, now it never appears at all.

I quite like the projects system and how it allows you to make some nicely organised and structured posts to track and showcase projects.  However they do take more effort to produce and maintain than simply posting in a forum but if my project is being hidden, it begs the question why bother?  The reason I post stuff here is to share with a community, only at the moment it would appear my Star Saga project is not being shared.

I did a little experiment and added a post to an older project which has appeared in the feed as normal, so whatever the issue is, it’s limited to the Star Saga project.

Well your Star Sage prject has been tagged with “having a golden button”. I’m guessing there is the culprit. Either that is intentional to give other projects more viewing space or it’s just something that breaks another feature

Ah, do they now appear in a different feed?  It’s weird that they wouldn’t appear in both

There is a “Golden Button” feed at the very bottom of the page

How regularly are you updating it? I don’t believe that updates within 24hrs? of a previous one will bump it up.

I noticed this with my Barbarians Frostgrave project earlier this year. Once I had a golden button it stopped showing up on the main page.

The madness has spread, it’s doing the same with the other project which sort if corroborates what I was seeing before the Star Saga project was given a golden button.  Updates aren’t appearing on the BoW landing page

Hmmmm. I’m not sure I fully understand the Golden Buttons system. I mean, it’s nice when you get called out and are given some recognition, but I use it mainly as a brain dump of how I got something done. That said, it’s also nice to think others will be table to see your work and hopefully benefit from it.

How can you tell that your project has been awarded a golden button?

My digital dice roller was picked out on the weekend show, but I can’t see anything on the project to say it had a golden button award and when I follow the link to the latest awards page from the homepage (https://www.beastsofwar.com/featured/community-spotlight-cursed-cities-mushroom-trees-warmaster-titans/) it doesn’t show, nor in the historical list (https://www.beastsofwar.com/community-spotlight-honour-badges-2021/)

In fact, trying to find anything on this site is actually pretty difficult – it’s only when trying to find something you know is here, you realise what a mess it actually is! I spend my time mostly on the forum, but have to remember to type in web addresses like https://www.beastsofwar.com/news/ because I can never find a link to it, for example.

If it wasn’t for members like @sundancer pointing the way, I’d never have found half the stuff I was looking for on here!

That is and will be a problem with the site as long as it stays a “wordpress on steroids”.

Currently you can’t if you don’t scroll through all the projects that are linked under the community post every week. But, if I understood it correctly that’s been worked on right now and that’s why there is a checkbox in the project system to filter GB projects. The thing is: they need to tag the projects manually. So some poor soul will have to take the list of awarded projects and manually put a dot on them.

To put it in simple words: the page is in a rough “permanent under construction” state. And will be for some time. Unless someone *cough*wayland*cough* hires somebody fulltime/brings in a freelancer to finish it. Without giving that person additional jobs.

@blinky465 getting a golden button is quite nice but it kind of makes your project slightly less visible
