I am really loving the releases coming from AEG at the moment, there have been board games aplenty in all different types of themes and mechanics. There was Cubitos, and then Sheepy Time, and now we are heading into the woods, and putting ingredients in the Cauldron with Whirling Witchcraft.

Whirling Witchcraft //AEG

As you would expect with a board game cover of several witches surrounding a cauldron, the aim of this game is to concoct an assortment of witches brews and magical ingredients.

The game is designed for 2-5 players and for all players to work simultaneously, not in a turn-taking manner. Players are provided with four recipe cards to create and transform ingredients on their workbench with limited space. Therefore one concoction at a time is the way to go.

You may want to create 'The Vortex Potion', or the 'Warty Brew', but your goal is to clear up your workbench, and overflow your opponent's cauldron. And how might you overflow your opponent's cauldron and cause chaos? Once you have completed your recipe, you will pass it on to the player on your right. They will attempt to fit these ingredients on their workbench, but if they are not able then then will be forced to return the ingredients to you, being added to your "witches circle".

Once you have at least five ingredients in your witches circle, you have won and the game is complete but, if you would like to play the game as a relay - pass the remainder of your cards to the person on the left and the next round will continue.

Along with special potions to create in your cauldron, there are also 'personality cards' which will give players an edge in the game by providing each player with a unique power to utilise throughout the game. This may mean you can rotate a card when you play, discard, or even swap out something on your workbench. These should be utilised at the right time to avoid one of your opponents overflowing your cauldron, or to enable you to overflow your opponent's!

Whirling Witchcraft will be ready to hit retail in August this year, so get your broomsticks and cauldrons out ready for this spectacular release.

I really do enjoy board games from AEG, the game mechanics are never too time-constraining and the gameplay is always a lot of fun.
