German or English? Well, I guess it depends on who you’re targetting. You’d vastly cut your audience opportunity if it’s entirely in German. But if it’s a video for you and your (German) pals, go for it!

I forgot who, but I often watch a terrain guy on Youtube whose videos are in (what sounds to me like) German. A few weeks after release, his videos usually get English subtitles, so I don’t have to guess at what he’s saying or explaining. So “foreign language” videos aren’t a barrier for some – but a lot of people would just click away. If you’re not chasing viewer numbers, do whatever you feel comfortable with – though subtitles (not Youtube auto-generated ones) would be nice, even if it does more than double your workload 😉
