Adventure Builder; A Roleplaying Fantasy Adventure For Families
April 12, 2021 by fcostin
Have you ever wanted to get together for a family-wide roleplaying game? Well, now the opportunity has arisen and families can now get together on the tabletop or fantasy-filled fun, and you won't need to leave the smaller kids behind!
Adventure Builder // Wider Path Games
My heart was filled when I saw this Adventure Builder by Wider Path Games available on Kickstarter because for me, when trying to reach new games for my nieces to get into, the age recommendation tends to always be 8+. When you have a mix of ages, 7, 8, 10 and 12-year-old nieces - it's such a shame that one or two of them has to be isolated. But Adventure Builder is built for ages 5+, so we can all have a game to get involved.
The game boasts the development of problem-solving, creativity, critical thinking and shared storytelling and is the perfect way to get the little ones started with role-playing games.
Each player will take on the role of a character that they get to create, and altogether you will embark on a classic fantasy adventure with the help from the guide that comes with the base game.

Don't worry, you will not need a game master and complex rules in this role-playing adventure. As instructed by the guide, players will find many an encounter through the use of turning over cards. This will determine what path you all take in your adventures.

For when players are not undergoing whimsical adventures and quests they can explore the in-game town of Florea. They can meet lots of fantasy characters here which reward them within the game. Like completing puzzles for a the local wizard, getting them to write a journal about their adventure to engage with the home tree, and even an incentive for them to do their real-life homework for payment of coins in game!

These coins will allow all players to purchase equipment from the town store so they can become stronger in-game to then complete harder quests and adventures in the game. Got to teach them the grind early on!
The Kickstarter is now live, with 23 days left to go and has already smashed its target within the first four days of it being live. So if you are looking for an RPG that can get you and your family together, including the young ones and enrol them on to the tabletop early. You might want to take a look at what Adventure Builder has to offer. I certainly will be!
What do you think of starting kids off young on the tabletop?
