EMP Games Bolster The Historical Troops Down Under
October 3, 2014 by brennon
EMP Games have started off their historical collection with some Australian Infantry both Advancing and Firing. These chaps are the Australian Light Horse and they aren't too bad looking!
While they're made for use in a historical setting, the Light Horse being a unit that fought in both the Boer War and World War I, you could quite possibly add these to a more modern setting and I don't think they would look out of place.
I think that they're not too bad looking at all and would be quite cool for a bit of skirmishing set during World War I. It would be neat to try out some of the smaller engagements that happened between skirmishing troops before the war sank down into the trenches.
What do you think?
As the ALH mostly fought in the MiddleEast and Gallipoli in WW1 they should be fine in the uniforms portrayed. It is a pity they dont come with the iconic emu feather on the slouch hat
They are working on that apparently – just ran through their blog and saw they mentioned it 🙂

Thanks Brennon for that..Do you know if their bringing out horses as well?
For me, these look a bit odd, particularly the fellow with the pistol. Surely there are better alternatives out there. I know of several companies that produce the heads, but not sure if the uniforms are unique, or are universal within the Commonwealth.
The basic Australian an tunic was different to the one worn by the British troops in WW1 being slight longer with bigger pockets at the front
More room to pin on all those medals the fellows got at Gallipoli, posthumously of course! :-).
I think they are fine for WWI and could even be used for early WWII. If you look at the Aussies as they first appeared in North Africa the boots are a little off but that is it.
