ClearHorizon Scout Ahead With A 15mm Light Strike Vehicle
October 2, 2014 by brennon
The 15mm Sci-Fi range is growing from ClearHorizon Miniatures with a rather cool render popping up showing off their Hell Diver Light Strike Vehicle...
A rather awesome looking piece of kit and this should be a brilliant looking addition to their Hell Diver range. One of the cool things is that ClearHorizon have also pointed out they will not be taking this to 28mm, they are sticking staunchly to 15mm. There are a good amount of companies out there looking at 15mm as a cool gaming range so let's see more!
What do you think of the render?
Nice – it looks like something that could actually function as opposed to being some mental slab of metal.
That is nice indeed. It looks enough scifi as well as functional at same time.
I also like the rather understated paint scheme. A lot of times sci-fi vehicles go off the rails a little in this department. I also like the lights, although that’s gotta be an after-effect applied in Photoshop, right? There can’t be functional wiring and lights in a 15mm vehicle . . . can there? And in some of the photos, the glow seems to be coming from behind the light?
Nice, conservative, “science fact-ion” style sci-fi. I love it!
The images above are the CAD designs on the computer and not an actual physical model. 15mm lighting with that kind of detail would be the stuff of dreams though 🙂
Dude, I totally missed that. With the lighting on the fender and shadows under the wheels? Great rendering. 🙂
Would make a brilliant scout/ recon tank do they do 28mm vehicles.
Looks lovely but what game/s is it for?
@cybermonkey Clearhorizon sell their minis as suitable for Gruntz on their webshop they even have pre-done unit cards for their products for the game to get you started.
@zorg Clearhorizon don’t have any 28mm stuff in their range at the mo but this has received quite a lot of attention in other places so maybe they’ll listen.
shame lets hope they start.
I hope they don’t go into 25mm at all. Some subjects are just better suited to 15mm than 25mm. At 15mm the figures are big enough to be instantly seen, hold good detail, and really reward careful technique without killing your wallet. The smaller size also allows for an easier entry point for companies to start up, so there is a whole host of garage manufactures cranking out figures. Without a dominate company in the scale (cough GW cough cough), these small companies have filled every niche imaginable. If you want to play snakemen, Kziniti, little grey men, Martian war… Read more »
Thanks for all the kind words everyone!
Yes, we do 15mm sci-fi miniatures. We have no plans to do 28mm (or any other scale for that matter) since 15mm is our true passion.
Having said that, we’re always looking to expand and innovate, so never say never. But probably not 🙂 We have a lot more 15mm miniatures to put out there first!!
Keep an eye out over the next month or so for this to come out!
… then can you just make a crazy giant super heavy tank in 15mm
that just happens to also be perfectly scaled to a 28mm buggy ? 😀 😀 😀
No worries nice miniatures.
Good choice – 15mm is my favorite scale, at least for vehicles. 🙂
