Community Spotlight: Silver Tower, Miremarsh Goblins & Infamy, Infamy!
April 7, 2021 by brennon
Come and join us for another delve into the Projects to find the best of the best from the last week or so. We're going to be getting stuck into lots of great looking miniature wargaming painting and hobbying this week...
...make sure to always let us know what YOU have been working on and share it across the site.
Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower by laughingboy
We start off this week with a look at some great miniatures painted up by laughingboy for Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower. They have been powering on with these for a while in order to get them up and running for games on Twitch and they look fantastic.
The miniatures that you see here come from not just the Silver Tower box but also the second game, Shadows Over Hammerhal. There are also a selection of heroes here that have come from the wider Age Of Sigmar range that can be used in the game.
The miniatures here are painted with a mix of different paints. The vast majority of the work is done via the medium of contrast with a little extra work here and there from more traditional Citadel paints. It means that these figures can be painted up in very short order with it often taking under an hour to finish a character!
I think this is a great idea, especially for a board game like Silver Tower where you want to get everything down onto the tabletop quickly. In addition, you'll also note that all of the miniatures have been rebased onto clear rounds and this makes all the difference when it comes to the final look!
When placed on the tiles, the miniatures sink into the designs and they look absolutely fantastic. It works exceptionally well for the varied, eldritch landscapes of The Silver Tower. There is much more to see as part of the project linked above with numerous videos showing off Silver Tower in action.
This is also one step towards painting all the Warhammer Quest stuff to date so that laughingboy can dive into Cursed City when it arrives in a couple of weeks!
Miremarsh Goblins by tonysilvey
Next up, we're looking at the work by tonysilvey on another board game. Here we have some of the characterful goblins from the Miremarsh game by Room 17.
Once again, the reason I picked these out was that it was focusing on a particular self-contained game. In addition to that, I thought the schemes on these miniatures were really nice and showed off the various characters in fun ways. I liked the bright green here alongside the rusty armour and the battered leather. The work on that marshy base also really stood out.
By contrast, we also have this funky fellow!
Again, the detail work here was really neat and I particularly liked the texture and depth given to the skull(s). It is then brought to life with the addition of those beady red eyes!
There are a lot more goblins to paint as you can see here!
I am eager to see how more of the characters come out as they truly are some wonderful one-piece miniatures. There is so much to have fun with and I could see it being a real joy to tackle each of them individually, taking your time and really getting lost in the process of bringing them to life!
Infamy, Infamy! Armies by SirHumphreyRtd
The last set of miniatures is from SirHumphreyRtd who has been working away on a selection of armies to use for TooFatLardies' Infamy, Infamy!
The idea behind this particular project was to bring not one but two armies to life. As well as the Ancient Roman Empire which is sticking its gladius where it doesn't belong, we also have a mighty force of native Celts and Britons who are looking to send the Romans packing!
The thing that really struck me about this project was the sheer breadth of it and what had been painted up. There are scores o infantry that have been painted up in such a way as they would look equally at home in the Mediterranean as well as trudging through swamps in Britain.
You've also got the serried ranks of the Celts and Britons who are charging across the battlefield to hunt down your Roman legions. I love the mix and match of colours within this force in particular which stands in contrast to the uniform look of the Romans.
The armies are also finished off with those wonderful shield transfers which help to add another dose of colour to an already colourful army. It's rare to see so many mass battle miniatures all lain out like this and so I tip my cap to SirHumphreyRtd for a job well done.

Love the idea of using clear bases for a game with pre printed game boards, starting to think I should rebase all of my Blood Bowl Teams!
JOKE – no way am I going to do that now!
But I may “borrow” the idea going forward.
Well done all, I especially like the blending on the gaunt summoner. I reminds me that my copy of silver tower is sitting somewhere assembled and primed but no further.
Fantastic looking winners – an eclectic mix but each of them inspires. Every time I see the Miremarsh goblins, I’m tempted to pick the game up. Zatu have it on sale right now…
