If you have an interest in the English Civil War period then you might want to take a peek at some of the offerings by Steel Fist Miniatures in 15mm. They have quite a nice Historical collection but these smaller-scale Parliamentarians and Royalists have caught my eye!

As it stands, the 15mm collection is all cast in metal and looks to hold a really nice degree of detail. The miniatures have been designed to cover the period of 1642 through to 1651 with the initial releases covering the earlier period of the war. As the collection grows it will cover a wider portion of the war and also expand to include the likes of the Scots Covenanters.

There are eleven different entries as part of the 15mm collection and the moment and they do a solid job of covering the core of both the Parliamentarian and Royalist forces. You've got soldiers on foot and mounted for both sides in a variety of different poses. I am always glad to see that you can choose from marching, shooting, reloading and charging miniatures to create a dynamic army.

Each of the miniatures has been realistically sculpted to match the soldiers of the time. They have also gone for a "true" foot-to-eye scale for their 15mm range which I'm sure will be crucial information for those intrigued by the time period and mixing this with other collections.

With Lifeguard, Dragoons, Cuirassiers and plenty of Pike and Shotte troops to pick from, I think this could be a good start to a grand army. The only question is which side do you pick? I have always liked the style of the Parliamentarian arms and armour but there is something to be said for the extravagance of the Royalists. Hard choices!

Have you picked up any of the Steel Fist 15mm English Civil War miniatures?
