New Rangers Of Shadow Deep Rulebook & Creature Deck
March 26, 2021 by brennon
North Star Military Figures has added a new retail version of the Rangers Of Shadow Deep Rulebook to their webstore. As well as this, they also teased the new Creature Deck which is due for release at the start of April.
New Look Rulebook // Rangers Of Shadows Deep
This rulebook features a fancy new cover but also a few updates to the core rules which makes it the definitive version of the game up until this point according to the North Star entry. Here is what you'll find within its pages...
- Brand new layout with a dozen new pieces of art from Barrett Stanley
- Solo and co-operative tabletop miniatures game from the creator of Frostgrave and Ghost Archipelago Joseph A. McCullough
- Create your ranger, gather companions, and play through a series of missions in a fight to hold back the darkness.
- Survive and you will grow in power and ability, and be sent on more difficult, dangerous and intricate assignments.
- Includes updated core rules combined with character-building elements first presented in Temple of Madness.
- New ‘Challenge Levels’ for all the scenarios can be used when playing with three or four rangers to ramp up the difficulty, or if you want to replay the scenario with a higher-level Ranger.
The heart of the game still remains the same which is good for those who might already have access to the rulebook. Plus, you most likely have all of the expansions by this point. If you're diving into the game at the moment then this becomes a good starting point.
Creature Deck
One of the new additions coming to their store on 5th April is the new Creature Deck.
Creature Deck // Rangers Of Shadow Deep
The artist behind Rangers Of Shadow Deep is back as part of this deck. You'll find new and existing artwork by Barrett Stanley on these cards, giving you all of the details on the foes that you'll be facing without having to dive into the rulebook.
Creature Deck Preview // Rangers Of Shadow Deep
It seems like a nice pack to pick up if you want to speed up your gameplay that little bit more. I like that it comes with the additional artwork as well as just the statistics. It's always nice seeing the monsters that you're facing in art and in miniature.
The Creature Deck features fifty-nine cards for all of the foes that you'll encounter in the game. It is in line with the most recent expansion so it should cover everything! You will also find seventeen blank cards in the set so you can make your own monsters or update the set as new expansions come out.
Are you going to be snapping up the new Creature Deck or start with the Rulebook?

Card deck could be useful, save us trolling through the box of unrelated and substitute figures that have been dragooned into service during lockdown.
Ooh interesting I’ve never played shadow deep.
I have the original PoD Rangers of Shadowdeep, but the creature deck would be really useful.
You can download a pdf of creature cards over on Board Game Geek, plus a bunch of other useful forms.
Problem is that the guy that did the cards made them too big for table use and did a pointless flipside to the cards with lot of black ink on it.
Would be ok if he did them double sided, but he did front and back side by side which wastes a lot of ink. Probably cost as much to print them as buy them and they won’t look as good as professional cards.
They print out normal card size. As far as the ink usage is concerned it would depend on how much other color printing you’re doing anyway, but you have a point there.
I scrapped colour print in favour of black and white laser. colour ink is absolute ripoff.
May get busy with copy paste in the pdf to make my own card from his files… when I get in the mood for mindless repetition.
Pick up the PDF. Not only can you print out only what creatures you need, but also the scenario you’re playing, soldier stats, impromptu reference sheets, combat rules, etc. Y’know, if you don’t do this tablet swiping stuff.. 😀
I’ve found this really useful. Yes you can do it yourself but after months of promising I would put something together for reference instead of flicking through the book and then not being able to bear switching on a computer when I get in from work as I’ve been on excel all day I bit the bullet and got them. Really nice quality.
