As we step into the grimdark future of Warhammer 40,000 we get another peek at what's coming from Games Workshop for their 28mm Sci-Fi wargame. I want to get to the Orks first as they might FINALLY be getting updated by their design team!

Destined for a good scrap, the Beast Snagga Orks are rampaging into the grimdark soon with some new miniatures. The trailer hints at a few new miniatures but the preview over the weekend concentrated on one, in particular, the Squighog Boyz

Squighog Boy - Warhammer 40K

Squighog Boy // Warhammer 40,000

These Orks are a nomadic tribe that rampages across planets atop their very quirky looking mounts. The combination of Ork and Grot then come together to hunt down enemy soldiers, big beasts, tanks and apparently even towering constructs like Knights and Titans. It's certainly very different compared to your normal bike-riding Ork!

I'm still trying to work out whether or not I actually like these new models. If nothing else, it's good to see the Orks getting some attention and we can only hope that the rest of the greenskin horde is also updated. I sense a new Codex on the way and a few tweaks here and there.

Is That A Big CanNUN I see There?

The Adepta Sororitas are getting some more heavy armour in the form of the Castigator tank.

Castigator - Warhammer 40K

Castigator // Warhammer 40,000

While many of their tanks are dedicated to burning the enemy to a crisp, this Castigator tank is very much a Bolter death machine. It has two side-mounted Heavy Bolters, a hull-mounted Heavy Bolter and then the Castigator Cannon/Auto-Cannon configuration for the turret.

Some enemies can weather the flame so put an explosive Bolter round in their chest instead. Works for most things I imagine. It has been built on the chassis of the Rhino and has been added into their ranks as a main battle tank for the Sisters Of Battle going forward.

Query: Can You Ever Have Too Many Arms?

Answer: No. It seems like the Adeptus Mechanicus is also looking to strengthen their presence on the battlefields of the far future. A new Codex is on the way and a new model is getting stuck into the middle of the action.

Skitarii Marshal - Warhammer 40K

Skitarii Marshal // Warhammer 40,000

The Skitarii Marshal is taking no-nonsense and takes on the role of a proper "get stuck in" style general. You get the sense that he is quite the battlefield expert, armed with all manner of equipment and weapons. Plus, the Roman-style helmet very much reminds me of those battle-hardened veterans who would know exactly how to get troops to do what they want.

The new Codex will offer up rules for the Skitarii Marshal as you might imagine and also the new units that came out as part of recent supplements.

Codex Adeptus Mechanicus - Warhammer 40K

If there was a piece of artwork to portray the horrifying ranks of the Adeptus Mechanicus then I would say this is it. It is insanely detailed and gives you a good impression of just what it's like when you just can't stop modifying your body! All in the service of the Machine Spirit!

What are you most looking forward to from the Warhammer 40,000 previews?
