Travelling the strange and wild corners of the world is something I used to do every year. And I am desperate to see the world once again as soon as I can hop on a plane. But strangely a place in the world which I have always dreamt of visiting, is landing at retail stores at the right time. As the release of Sumatra by Ludonova is just around the corner.

Sumatra // Ludonova

Sumatra is an island in Indonesia and is well-known for its incredible tropical atmosphere, exotic wildlife and of course, the fierce volcanos. So I am looking forward to getting this game in my hands-on release to see how this board game can incorporate the magic of the island.

This game is set on the biggest Island of Indonesia, Sumatra and 2-5 Players set out to join an expedition to explore the island further. Into the depths of the exotic rainforest, climbing the highest peak of the tallest volcanoes, explore the flora and fauna and of course, seek out the wondrous wildlife that inhabits the tropical terrain.

Whilst exploring each corner of the map, players will be required to collect images of various discoveries in their own handy notebook. This will equate to collecting, scoring points and the player who has the most points (makes the most contribution to the cause of ecosystem awareness) - is the winner.

Sumatra // Ludonova

There are two different sides to the game board, and the side that you use depends on how many players join the game. One side of the board accounts for 3-5 players as there is more to see and more to collect, whereas the other side for 2 players.

What I really like about this game as it really does emulate the feeling of being part of a tour. Starting at a base camp, being guided around the island by your tour guide, and taking notes in your notebook to log different discoveries. It really encompasses the ideals of travelling and exploration of an island.

As this game has an age rating of 8+, this is a great way for children to learn about the different discoveries that travelling has, whilst learning incredible facts about the island itself. And saving some money on plane tickets to Indonesia!
