Monolith Showcase Ragnarok’s Impressive & Cruel Fafnir
March 18, 2021 by brennon
Monolith Edition is still working towards the launch of their Kickstarter for Mythic Battles: Ragnarok. The latest preview is for the monstrous Fafnir, a Dverg who was twisted and changed into the monstrous Lindworm that you see here to protect his horde of gold.
Fafnir Art & Render // Mythic Battles: Ragnarok
This is a rather epic looking miniature and I like that it goes back to the snake imagery that you see in so much artwork based on Norse Mythology. As you might imagine, the damnable Loki was involved in the fall of Fafnir who killed Hreidmar for his magic ring which created all the gold the bearer could ever want.
There is quite the tale tied to the greed of Fafnir and Regin, another of the sons of Hreidmar, as the other jealous brother would soon become a mentor to Sigurd.
Fafnir // Mythic Battles: Ragnarok
One would hope that we're going to be seeing the mighty hero Sigurd as part of this campaign so that he can go up against Fafnir on the tabletop. Fafnir is quite the deadly monster in-game with attacks that allow him to lay waste to areas of the board. His Terror ability also means that it's going to be hard to tackle him when you do get close.
Fafnir // Mythic Battles: Ragnarok
I did say last time that I didn't think I would be drawn into Mythic Battles: Ragnarok but these big monsters are very tempting. If you're looking for your next big, epic Kickstarter campaign then this might be it and I do like that it should blend well with the pantheon of gods we've already seen from the original Mythic Battles. As always, make sure to research the campaign when it launches and make educated decisions based on what's already in your collection!
Keep an eye out for the campaign's launch on 23rd March...

He looks spooky.
An impressive specimen of worm :O
Great looking dragon.
Impressive looking mini. As it happens there aren’t a lot of Lindworm type miniature options out there (that I’ve seen anyway) so it’s good to have another.
@brennon Do you know if they will be selling the various models individually (either as part of the KS or after)? Seems like there’s box art for them.
I doubt they will be selling the models individually – they may do a mini only pledge but I doubt it.
Great mini
Ooh Wow that’s a cracker of a Lindworm Dragon.
