Fireforge Games’ Byzantine Cataphracts Pre-Orders Firing Up!
March 17, 2021 by brennon
Fireforge Games are soon going to be taking pre-orders for their new Byzantine Cataphracts in 28mm for your Historical wargames. This set is going to be produced in plastic and give you some heavily armoured riders to drop into your games.
Byzantine Cataphracts // Fireforge Games
This set gives you enough components to make twelve Byzantine Cataphracts. These heavily armoured and armed cavalry are able to smash through the ranks of the enemy and deliver a hammer blow to their infantry.
There aren't too many pictures of the miniatures out there but there were a few that got assembled by members of their community. Here is one showing off a rider with a spear and shield at the ready.

I always liked the imagery of Cataphracts and routinely used them in games like Rome: Total War and Medieval II: Total War. They are a very iconic element of the Ancient and Medieval-era that brings to mind thundering hooves, heavy armour and the crash of a cavalry charge.
Watch out for this release coming very soon from Fireforge Games!

Oh I really want Byzantines now. Damn you history, stop being so inspiring!
Also these are from a Fireforge Kickstarter. There are some renders on there (and the other cav that’s on the way).
Nice I’m loving the armoured covering on the horses. (caparison)
Awesome look!
Everytime I want to buy something from GW, history comes around and shows them a big middle finger.
