The popular dice-rolling game from the newest Assassin's Creed title; Valhalla, will be rolling off of the screen and onto our tabletops this year. Boardgame website Dicebreaker have learned of it's impending production from Ubisoft themselves. Confirming this Viking-themed minigame a reality in 2021.

The Norse were in belief that a person would be born with a certain amount of luck attached to them. And Orlog certainly incorporates this in a game of chance. Players are to roll their dice, combat with their axes and bows and call upon the Gods for abilities in battle.

Although Orlog is not a real historical game that was played by mead-drinking, axe swinging Vikings, it has been designed for that world in mind. Ubisoft have expressed that they wanted this game to slot right into the theme, in an interview with Dicebreaker:

“The goal was to have a game that would be ‘credible’ rather than historically accurate as we didn’t find any clear rules throughout our research,” “Norse culture was about gaining pride and avoiding shame in every aspect of their lives, such as combat, politics, arguments and sports.”

I am a huge fan of games such as Orlog in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla and Gwent in the Witcher III: The Wild Hunt, as it incorporates both my hobbies of video gaming and tabletop gaming all in one nicely wrapped present.

Are there any other minigames from video games you would like to see on the tabletop?
