Kabuki’s Latest Legio Praetoriana Are Finally Available

Kabuki Models have finally got round to releasing their long-awaited Tactical Team to their Legio Praetoriana scifi army.
Lacking the high peaked helms and halberds of the previous Legio Praetoriana unit, these members of the Tactical Squad look relatively more practical than their compatriots, yet they still have the ornate style that characterises this range of models from Kabuki.
Would these members of the Legio Praetoriana be welcome in your army?
Those are rather detailed sculpts and having capes do give them they own feel.
If they lift their arms their shoulder pads will pop their heads like a zit lol.
That has been one of my biggest complaints about scifi minis at the moment, the shoulder pads. But they’re just so prevalent that I have given up pointing them out. As I said in one of my first articles for this site, I hate the idea that the best way to beat these soldiers would simply be to shout “It’s fun to stay at the YMCA!”
The weapons look a bit familiar if not derivative as well.
I am suprised that it’s not just american thing to call those shoulder pads. I would call them shoulder armor or pauldrons (historically accurate term) instead because shoulder pads are once that are kept inside shirt, jacket or other cloth like those.
If I’d called them pauldrons a lot of folks wouldn’t know what I was talking about. It’s not a common term.
